Some of you just get carried away with the big names and the hype from the offseason has left a seemingly permanent imprint. I'm betting at least some are those who wanted us to take Shabazz Muhammad this past draft.

Agreed.

How many on this board consider Giannis our best all around player right now, at age 18/19 no less? I think a large group of people here do.

So somehow Embiid isn't capable of this, other than the traditional bull rookie hazing of calling fouls on rookie bigs?

I watched the full Kansas vs. OU game a couple of days ago. I saw Embiid get pushed around in the post by 6'7 guys, have very little offense run through, and struggle defensively on switches out on the perimeter.

He's a helluva prospect and worthy of a top 3 pick. But saying he's a top 5 center in NBA right now when he's not even a dominant Center in college is one of the more egregious things I've read around here lately. This is getting more out of control then the WIggins hype from this Summer.

It is unlikely Embiid in Year 1, Month 2 is better than Andre Drummond's Year 1 or Henson this year.

Rim protection? Sure, Larry is better. But can you run the offense thought Larry or Drummond right now? Can Larry and Drummond pass out of double and triple teams with ease? Hit free throws?

I understand the skepticism, but people need to look at the all around player. Embiids all around skillset is what makes him such a amazing prospect.

NCAA isn't a big Man's league. And if you are looking for stats, what were Giannis's averages on his Greek team?

You guys are waiting for 30/20 games that aren't going to happen in the NCAA. Additionally not taking into account the all around skills that help your team win.

I'll grant he will get in foul trouble in the NBA, but half of that will be normal growing pains and the other half the normal rookie rules.

Anybody concerned a little bit about Wiggins' low release on his jumpers?

LMAO, you're acting like he shoots 3's every game. Henson & Sanders were better scorers their last year in College before they left. Embiid is not even averaging 6 shots a game.

Embiid might have a great skillset but he won't come close to realizing his potential in Year 1. Year 4 maybe, but people are acting like he is going to tear it up from Day 1 like Shaq

What? Come on now.

Larry & Henson were better college players when they left, then what Embiid is now.

You couldn't be more wrong here. Holy sh*t.

Forget about 3 pointers, Henson and Sanders are lucky to score from 3 feet from the hoop. You apparently have watched one game and have made your opinion. Fine with me. I'll be happy to remind you next year, that the player you're watching, whatever team he's on, you thought was a lesser player than Henson and Larry Sanders.

Yet he is average 10.5 pts. on less than 6 shots per game. Larry would take that in a heartbeat.

Are any of these Kansas games archived?

Would like people to watch entire games and just watch Embiid the entire game. Then afterwards, ask yourself if Larry or Henson could make any of those plays, other than the blocked shots.

It's not even a controversial statement. PP's statement about walking in and being top 5 is controversial (IMO). But saying he's already better than Sanders and Henson shouldn't even be up for much of a debate. Both of our bigs, whom I like, are severely limited offensive players. The stuff Embiid shows is already far far more advanced than either of them.

You can't run an offense through Embiid right now in the NBA either. He's not strong enough to hold any type of position which would allow him to take full advantage of his skill set. He'd get pushed out to the perimeter and you've suddenly got a jump shooting center who's going to struggle with his efficiency level.

In addition to that, the foul trouble is very much indicative of his defensive discipline. Again, he'll have trouble staying on the floor and rotating when the speed of everything around him increases.

Listen, he's got a great all around skill set, but the most important thing for him is seasoning and allowing his body to really fill out.

Robin Lopez is a more advanced offensive player then either of them too and I wouldn't say he's a better player.

Embiid shows great flashes and has a ton of promise and has many more tools then either Larry/Henson but he's far from an impactful player on either end if he stepped into the NBA today.

The difference is, Embiid has all the athleticism (and more) and length that make Henson and Sanders good players despite their limited offensive skill set. Which is obviously what holds Robin back.

But you can't run an offense through Wiggins either. He has a spotty handle, horrible jump shot and is shooting 30% from the college 3 pt line.

It's one thing to call someone the best all around player on the worst team in the league, it's another thing entirely to say Embiid can come in right away and be a top 5 center in the league.

I absolutely love what I've seen from Embiid so far and would take him number 1 right now but he won't be a top 5 center at least until his 2nd or 3rd year. You just don't see guys come into the league and dominate immediately all that often. Embiid is still raw and will take a year or two to develop into an elite big man at the NBA level.
