Honestly most surprised that you didn't photoshop Middleton's face onto KD's and try to sneak it past us.

That quote is from spring. A few things have changed since then. If we bowed out early and didn’t resign anyone I would be nervous.

Since then we have made the ECFs and locked everyone up long term. We brought in Korver to help Giannis with 3s and signed his brother. And don’t discount his lady being pregnant. They have roots laid down in Milwaukee. I’m sure he and Middleton are already talking about their kids hanging out together.

Plus you have to understand his background vs the average American player. My guess is he signs as quickly as Middleton and that the convo has already been had between them.

That's why I don't believe anything unless it comes from Giannis' own mouth in form of a video. We didn't play a game yet and they already started their campaign with the fake news.

So if they misquoted Giannis in the paper, then they've committed fraud. Somebody call the Harvard IRB!

Not everything is clickbait. Not all misquotes are purposeful. Also even if he did say it...so what?
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I couldn't care less what he actually said. IT WAS 7 MONTHS AGO. Since then we got to the ECF finals and improved the team. Shrug.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Except if it's published in a study. Then misquoting is, at best, negligence in transcription, and at worst, malicious representation of data to prove an author's point. Either way, if it is indeed a misquote, that's bad news for the publisher. And if it's not a misquote, then G needs to be a bit more conscientious about what he says, because he'll come out of this looking really bad.

The natural consequence of treating these guys like gods is they will start to believe it a little. I'm sure he said exactly the quote and is now objecting to what he meant vs. what he said.

In a different way this reminds me of Favre. The guy was incredibly likable for a dozen years just by being himself. Like Giannis, he didn't have to craft a persona, people just loved everything he naturally did. And you can't help but become entitled by that treatment.

We first noticed it with the "I am Giannis" I've come so far this is not an obstacle nonsense he was spitting after the Raptors turned the tide. This is not smoothie Giannis anymore. And that's fine. He's an adult. But he's probably lying about this, and much like LeBron on China he probably should've kept his mouth shut.

Also Khris Middleton sucks.

Yeah memory is incredibly unreliable. If this is recorded and he's saying that verbatim, it's going to be a bad look. He could have been like, I'm not sure I said exactly that and English isn't my first language, here's how I remember thinking about their question at the time...

Or he could have just been like, "Let me clear this up: I love Milwaukee and the only thing that could make me leave is a lack of support for my goals."

Also -- many years ago I did some interview transcription for an academic and she did not want a verbatim transcript full of ellipses and fragments and hairpin turns. This could well be a paraphrase, where Giannis is accurate in that he did not use those words, but also the way they were represented is qualitatively accurate. Maybe what he actually said was a little more careful? Hard to say and, ultimately, doesn't matter to me.

Side note, I haven't read the article, did they ask Giannis for comment in it?

Since it's a case study, this could actually be blown out of the water. There has to be a reason why they are writing this case so they need some sort of contrariant opinion. They could've threw hypotheticals at Giannis and got him to say what they wanted.
