Wiggins definitely remains the biggest boom or bust for me. I'd still take him over Parker. I loved everything I saw from Embiid (in the 6 or so full Kansas games and highlight videos I've seen.) And, again, Parker is Big Dog. Which is fine, but I'd still rather swing for the fences. Its so nice to be taking about #2 instead of #'s 10-15.

Come on guys, did you even read the article? All three of the scouts compared Parker to Paul Pierce, not Big Dog or T-Mac.

Of all the Wiggins criticisms this one is the one that pisses me off.

Why? The eye test is important too.

You want a killer or a passive lamb?

All these scouts confirm mine and others reservations about his heart and passion.

Yet some are so quick to dismiss it. That frustrates me.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

And? I see Glenn Robinson. No biggie. That doesn't take away the fact that I really enjoyed reading the three scouts' notes.

What makes him a passive lamb? He doesn't jack up 20 bad shots a game? He lacks the mental fortitude to play in the "clutch"? Seriously give me a direct example where he showed a weak mental framework.

You can make conjecture about it, but none of it's proven. You can name off 20 things that can scare you about Wiggins that are relevant and have proof, but lacking heart is not one of them.

My bad, I thought you were claiming that the scouts had said he was like Big Dog.

The subjective and cliche "lack of killer instinct" in an 18 year old kid has got to be one of the most insanely idiotic criticisms I've ever heard. Yet I keep hearing it get brought up :noway:

Jabari Parker must really lack that "killer instinct" on defense then. I mean, what "alpha male" player gets subbed out on defense in the 4th quarter and loses to freaking Mercer in the 1st round of the tourney?

15 pounds already?! Wow! I didn't expect him to put on that much weight so quickly. Cavaliers have to be licking their chops right now.

+1 We MUST take either Wiggins or Embiid, whoever the Cavs pass up on.

we really need to check out Embiid's back, I want to hear something definitive

Tellum is a butthole and the NBA shouldn't allow a player/agent to try to manipulate the process like this, Silver needs to do something

Me too, but no way Hammond does that, not his way. I think the only non-Wiggins possibilities are Embiid and Exum.

As far as Jabari Parker goes, I can see the Pierce, Robinson and Anthony similarities. With Parker though, he is more explosive than Robinson was in my opinion. All four of those guys have very similar offensive games though. Silky shots, great post game and can handle the ball.

Pretty valid article when Nick Johnson gets a vote to be the #1 pick. Nobody knows players like players. :nonono:

Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid

Post#558 » by raferfenix » Fri May 23, 2014 6:36 pm

Great grandland piece. Makes me much more encouraged about Parker in particular.

"A giant Paul Pierce" would be amazing even if it's only on one side of the court.

Giannis and Sanders also would be an almost ideal defensive duo to cover up for him too.

And if he is ultimately more like Big Dog, I agree with the poster who said that if Robinson would have cared more it would have been a whole different story for his game.

That won't be an issue with Parker for what the comparison is worth.

No offense to either of you guys, but I find it laughable that anyone would be disappointed coming away with Jabari Parker in this draft.

I know you guys probably have Wiggins much higher than me, but seriously, let's not get too carried away here. We have scouts, gm, and player polls calling Parker the #1 pick, so it isn't crazy to think we would take him at 2, if available.

I've had Parker has my #1 all year, and though tempted to change it, have held strong, for many reasons I have posted previously...I will be really happy when any of the big 4 are drafted, but if I have my pick, it's Parker for sure.

I think some people (myself included) would be deflated at first, but then would talk themselves into the pick.
