What if Bogdan took a little less on his contract to help Horst fill the bench this year? Maybe a sliding scale contract with increases toward the end of it.

Did some math for you guys. Assuming Bogdan has 16,285 mil starting salary (though I think he can't get more than 15 mil since only 10mil out counts for Sacramento), Bucks will be hard capped at $138,928,000 because of the s/t. This is how they can build the rest of their roster:

1. Middleton.....$33,051,724
2. Giannis........$27,528,088
3. Holiday........$26,231,111
4. Bogdan........$16,285,000
5. Brook..........$12,697,675
6. tax-MLE.......$5,718,000
7. Thanasis......$1,701,593
8. James.........$1,517,981
4x$1,517,981....$6,071,924
3x$898,310......$2,694,930
- Leuer............$3,169,348
- Sanders.........$1,865,546
- total............$138,538,920

So Milwaukee has only the tax-MLE to get a 6th. They can use the full MLE ($9,258,000) only if Horst manages to clear Leuer's money. There no possible path to use both the MLE and the $3,623,000 BAE too.

Hard to really say who would be willing to play on the vet minimum because it'll most likely be guys that want to win a ring and or struck out in free agency.

I'm only like 50% joking when I say Giannis' buddy and my beloved MCW could be a decent candidate for this.

Almost certainly need to focus on bigs for the last spots that matter. Gallo is the dream with the MLE. Grab another with the BAE (would Noel be willing to take it for a chance to win)?

Not exactly because it depends on Bogdanovic's contract, but John Hollinger basically laid it out. We should have somewhere in the neighborhood of $12-15 million to fill the remaining 7 roster spots. With the vet minimum being $1.5 mil, that means that we can spend roughly $3-6 mil of the MLE. If we hypothetically buy two 2nd round picks, that would mean we can spend more like $5-8 mil of the MLE.

So basically we really hope Leuers stretch can be forgiven

My guess is Horst knows Leuers money is coming off the books and we will use full boat MLE ON Gallo or Grant

Getting Jrue would give us a leg up if we decide to pursue his brother Justin. He wouldn't be my priority, but he's a good player.

Yes, that would help a lot.

I would see if brook could get us a 1st in this draft and maybe a solid big in return. I’m ready to move on from him

Has there been any indication it is in the process of being forgiven?

What are the actual odds that we'll be able to clear Leuer's dead cap hit off the books? I thought stuff like this was usually a long shot.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say after acquiring all this salary with little bench room Horst has a good idea it will be forgiven.

Brook is a really nice fit and defensive anchor for this team, if we trade him it should be for a damn good deal honestly. His 3pt shooting fell off a lot last year so it would be selling low too but him and Giannis down low with our new acquisitions makes our defense longer, faster and better at switching

Is Gallo feasible on MLE? I’ve been sleeping a bit on the league cap situation and who has available money. It just seems like he’s a guy that could probably get more than ~$9mil. Seems like wishful thinking.

Bucks are going to be the #1 team for players who want a chance at a chip with the vast amount of spots available.

paulpressey25 wrote:Thinking about this after some sleep. While understandable everyone wants to toss that MLE (or whatever dollars it actually is) at their favorite guy, this team probably is better off dividing it up among 2-3 key guys.

While our starting five looks great, this still isn’t 2010 Wade/Bosh/LeBron. We’re going to need that depth in the 6-9 roster spots. Real players versus a washed Korver or Marvin.

I hear ya, but if you can get someone like Gallo for well under market value, I think ya gotta do it. He's that good.

As a cost-saving move, the Bucks should sign a guy who didn't graduate as an unpaid intern for college credit.

Why would you trade him when you are trying to win a championship this coming season? You trade him if you want to shed salary and maybe get some picks.

Why would that happen? I don’t see that happening.
