Like he's skilled enough to play point, but playing him alongside a guy who has a PG skillset gives us a huge boost offensively. We dice teams up with those guys next to each other.

I'm into this theory, and I've been thinking about Jrue on offense quite a bit lately. He's so much better than I thought he was, and I watched him play plenty in New Orleans! He's obviously a gifted defender (even with the communication hiccups so far), but his talent on offense is wild. He's second only to Khris in terms of feel and midrange play, is more than capable at initiating and playmaking, and is so damn strong. Every day I wonder about what the hell AD is/was doing.

Oh no, not our 4th and 5th best players!? Whatvever should we do? It's almost like once you have your cornerstones set (Giannis, Midds, Jrue) the rest should be short, team-friendly deals that fit around your stars and into your system.

The players your trading are those players, and you trade them for worse players, and give up assets so we can't address our actual needs

Nah.

Yea, DJA + Jrue lineups appear dominant on paper. DJA/Jrue/Portis is a juggernaut rn; +19.7 net rating in 157 minutes. Meanwhile, Forbes lineups look better when he's next to the likes of DDV & Pat in the backcourt. Nice to have a couple different looks but hopefully Forbes eventually assimilates better alongside what may be our two most important ballhandlers.

Vonleh to the Nets. I'm going to be upset if he works out.

Buy low on Bamba makes sense too.

While clicking around Orl I also realized Brook+DJs works for Vucevic. Would solve that problem long term. Incentive for Orl would be money savings, breaking the Vuc contract into two smaller pieces, and whatever picks we'd throw in. Still, I assume they're gonna keep on playoff chasing there so won't do it.

For Ball. Just ask yourself if his name was Frank Anderson, 2nd overall pick who can't shoot and has flopped for 4 years, would you want him then.

Yes. He's an average shooter with great passing and good defense.

If his name was Frank Andersen, I would want him even more because we wouldn't have to put up with that crazy ass clown dad.

If you say so. I'd guess he wouldn't even be on our radar if not for the hype on his name. Good D and passing, can probably find tons of guys who cost way less to acquire and way less in contract with that skill. Many with that skillset probably don't even get a chance in the NBA because it's all about shooting now.

This generalization diminishes Lonzo's playmaking and passing ability. He's a far cry from some scrapheap vet that can make the right pass and thus may be dubbed a "good" passer. Also, his TS% has improved every year (still only 54%) and he's shooting >36% from 3 over his past 82 games. TO's are down despite USG creeping up. Plus defender. It's ironic you say the NBA is all about shooting now when that's the major thing capping Lonzo's potential.

I just came to post this too. Noah Vonleh is another "Portis like" guy and we should have work something out to be able to sign him. A team should have as many "Portis like" players as they can get. He would have been a great fit, a great body to throw on opponent bigs like Bam etc. These 4-5 guys that can shoot a bit from mid and are mobile plus strong to guard 5s , are valuable.

I always remember the players that slowed down Giannis or even contest Giannis and always wanted them cause they are rare.
(Jerami Grant, Iman Shumpert in Giannis rookie years, Noah Vonleh)

If anything we need a backup lead guard that's at least defensively passable. Teodosic is not that guy.

If the DJ's, Merrill and SRPs would be enough to get Ball, I think that would be ideal. I think there will be better offers however for him though.

Trade for Ball, sign Ersan and Napier. Still have an open spot for a buyout guy like Gay, Ariza, etc. There could be some very interesting line up combinations with this roster.

Ball - Napier
Holiday - DDV - Pat - Forbes
Middleton - Craig - Nwora
Giannis - Ersan - Thanasis
Lopez - Portis
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

If the Bucks valued Lonzo -- and if he were available for what we have to offer -- I imagine that would have been worked out during the Holiday trade.

Not impossible that things have changed with Ball disappointing this season so far as well as the Bogdan deal falling through. But still doesn't seem so likely.

He's not even a bad shooter though. His main trait is that he has the ability to be a floor general. That is pretty valuable, no?
