Another way to make use of the cap space if we don't hit in fa. D-Mo + Papanicky. That sounds like a deal you'd enjoy, and not that bad actually. Plus, I loved their draft. Would love to extract one of those guys in exchange for eating a bit of salary.

I'd like Chandler quite a bit if he was 30 or 31. I think this team still needs another year of seasoning before making a huge leap, and signing a guy like Chandler at his age seems like icing on the cake.

Agreed.

Butler, Williams, and Dudley (maybe with a handshake that he will opt out and return to the bucks, is that legal?) for Dmo or Capela and any of their salary (Papa, Ariza, Prigioni, Brewer or whatever) would be a massive home run move.

Ok champions is too strong of a word.

“I’m looking to be with a team that’s ready to win,” said Monroe during a timeout at his youth basketball clinic Saturday morning at the Delgado Community College gymnasium.

Calderone/Afflalo/Melo/Porzingis/Monroe, how many games does that team win? Also he is looking for a two year deal plus an option year so it's not like he is looking to be competitive in the next four years but right now. I just dont see it with the Knicks.

There are NBA players that can get swayed by New York City and Phil Jackson.

Aren't the Monroe to NY rumors a year old as well?

You think the Mavs let him walk if they misout on Jordan?

Chandler is already talking like he knows he's not in Mavs plans.

Phil is one of few FOs left that wants a C that provides neither a shot nor a defensive presence.

Count me out on Monroe. The NBA has moved past his game.

Well sure but who plays D in that lineup? Afflalo used to be pretty good, but ew. Plus every guy on that roster is 5 years older or younger than Monroe, who does he hang out with?

That's short-sighted. If anything Monroe is more valuable now that many teams want to go small ball. He'd have murdered Draymond Green in the post, more than Green would have beaten him on the outside (like a 32% 3 shooter the last couple years counting playoffs). And he could help you run against big teams. Gives you a match-up advantage. If you follow trends you'll be left behind. If you set them you'll be out in front.

Defensively he can guard in the post and at least get in the way of drivers. He should be a sufficient rim protector in Kidd's defensive system if Zaza is. Only thing I worry about is lack of jumper. But your center is not supposed to have that, it's a bonus. I'd rather pitch MCW over the side than Monroe as a result.

Really? You think Lasry and Edens just decided one day, "Hey, I got a cool idea! Let's buy the Bucks!"

Those plans were in the works for some time, and both owners are good friends with Kidd. I don't doubt for a second that they told him they were going to bring him along as their HC, well in advance of them purchasing the team. People like that don't just buy ****. They plan, well in advance. Jason Kidd as the Bucks Head Coach was a firm part of their plan all along.

This possibility has been in the news for years... http://hoopshabit.com/2014/11/21/brooklyn-nets-jason-kidd-want-trade-brook-lopez/

There's a huge difference between saying" Lets buy a team rn" to personnel moves being made before anything is even arranged, let alone a deal in place to leave Brooklyn while he's still under contract. You're the one who sounds like a crazy person with this, "I know they will," stuff.

I didn't say you were "crazy," but you've said that I am twice now. OK. Thanks for that.

I'm just looking at the situation, I guess from a different perspective. These are multi-billionaire owners we have now, one's who like to get done what they want to get done. I didn't make up that Kidd tried to have Lopez traded here. Doesn't the timing of that seem, at least, plausable?

April 2014 - Lasry and Edens buy the Bucks
May 2014 - Nets lose in playoffs to MIA
June 2014 - Reports surface Kidd wanted to trade Lopez and another player to MKE for Sanders and another player after playoffs.

These guys will have no problem hitting the luxury tax, if they can get what they want. Forget the cap. At least, I suspect that to be the case. If Kidd wants Lopez, he could very well wind up here in Milwaukee.

I'll add, I've seen no report saying Lopez has agreed to anything with the Nets.

1. It was the first time I did.
2. You're not looking at the situation from a different perspective, you're looking at it from a wrong one because the timeline you're using to form your argument is inaccurate. Reports surface in June, but those trade requests were given months earlier during the season, while Kidd is trying to turn the ship around in Brooklyn and likely before his season ending injury.

Yeah i've seen that but if its such a done deal why is he bothering to visit other teams? I think if we get him in the door we can sell him that we are building a young core with a future, not a mish-mash of misfit parts like the Knicks.

I know Mike's response was in jest, but I'm not sure yours was entirely. If so, I think the least Kidd does is not allow players to loaf in Milwaukee anymore.

Of the semi-realistic options, I guess I prefer Monroe. I could probably talk myself into maxing him in 2015 dollars.

Sooooo make an offer to Biyombo and Chandler and trade for Bledsoe. Sounds like a plan.

I'm afraid the irrefutable picture disagrees with you.
