While I basically agree, I also suspect I might like Ersan better at PF if Dalembert was beside him. I view Illy as an incomplete PF and wonder if Dal (what will be his nickname?) would be a help.

Maybe what it does is give us flexibility in various options. Remove some of the pressure to re-sign Ersan to too big a contract. Consider Landry and others. Consider giving more time to Udoh and Sanders.

how is ersan, with a contract, and playing next to dalembert, any different than the one we saw next to bogut. i dont like that ersan for 8-10 mil per. we need a legit postup guy even if he comes with other obvious flaws....... we can pay hella less for a guy like that too.

i want a guy who isnt just a scrapper. i want a just one single pf on this team that could score on monta in the post if the situation presents itself.

Seems like a fair trade, nothing to get excited for or mad about. I wish we would have waited to pull the trigger and see if someone would have fallen to us at 12 like Drummond or Lamb but that is unlikely.

"From Milwaukee's end, it's hard to argue with this one. Despite moving down in the draft, one can argue this trade will result in a better player. The Bucks felt tremendous pressure to reach for a center like Meyers Leonard or Tyler Zeller at No. 12, but now that they have one, they can go back to a "best player available" mentality. I'm also told the Bucks think the player coveted by Phoenix, which picks No. 13, one spot ahead of them, isn't on their radar. If that's true and the Suns don't trade the pick, it means there's even less harm in moving down.

Dalembert is a useful starting center, even if he can frustrate with his inconsistency, lack of feel and maddening refusal to put his hands up on defense. He's long, moves well, runs the floor, shoots decently from short range and is a very effective rebounder. Between Dalembert, Ekpe Udoh and Larry Sanders, they've got the center position covered now and can play Drew Gooden at his natural power forward spot.

Additionally, the Bucks didn't take on much money to do it. They can now re-sign Ersan Ilyasova and Carlos Delfino without going into the luxury tax if they choose to, or take things in a different direction and go under the cap by several million. Milwaukee's books also remain very clean going forward since Dalembert is on an expiring deal.

In a vacuum, I like this deal a little bit better for Milwaukee. But this deal wasn't done in a vacuum. The Rockets are accumulating high draft picks with a bigger end-game in mind. Thus far, they've surrendered a starting center and a productive wing to get there, and we may not know if it was worth it for a while yet."

Yeah :-?

How does 1 year of Dalembert suddenly make this team older? This should be a positive for Sanders and Udoh as players.

Avoiding Ersan is avoiding a big $$$ contract that we simply don't need on the books right now. You'll get over not having him on the squad quick enough and won't regret not having the contract to deal with.

Taking minutes away from Sanders and Udoh for a 31 year old is good for them. I think seeing the floor consistently is good for them.

The thing about Dalembert is he might actually be better in Skiles system than Bogut because he has no offensive game whatsoever. Like none, might as well stay on the defensive end if it weren't for putbacks and open layups.

Skiles has absolutely no idea how to coach to a big man on offense, this way he won't have to so we won't see the ridiculous repeat iso's and his one and only double pin down screen to get the big the ball. Skiles can essentially do exactly what he wants to with Dalembert, ignore him and run his 4 guard passing and jumpshooting offense.

To me it says that Houston got rid of Dalembert for a minor move up and role players, something they've been trying to do for the best part of a season.

They've obviously got a plan for those picks though Paul. They've made these moves with a legit end goal in mind.

Hammond just said on 620 that they feel comfortable at #14, and then a few minutes later he said he doesn't think they're "done."

OK...

Kohl, gauging fan reaction on the board, is reading that quote from me thinking "What the hell does he think the 8th seed is? Chopped liver?"

I'm hoping for the Portland trade...

Monta +14 for Matthews +6.

Maybe even that Warriors trade to net 7.

That would be incredible, so I think it has no chance of happening.

He also said there was a chance that the guy they wanted at 12 could be gone by 14, but not a big chance, more like a small chance.

I'm thinking something along the lines of Tobias and filler for Trevor Ariza. Run n gun swag to new levels.
