I think you get what you pay for with most groceries - except for Jack's frozen pizzas. I feel like a thief when I can get them at 4 for $10 because they are the greatest pizzas on planet earth come at me not apologizing yeah I said it.

Heggies was my go-to frozen pizza for a few years, and I still love it. But this year this has been my go-to frozen pizza. Light, thin, cornmeal crust. It's excellent.

I used to be partial to Freschetta Cheese Frozen Pizza but for some reason half the time I bake it these days it comes out with an unpleasant taste and texture. Makes me wonder if they redid the recipe.
I am a fan of these, though:

I ate the the Lucette Brewery (real nice woodfire pizza) and the Logjam this weekend and liked both enough to go back from EC again.

Gannett just sold to Gatehouse Media. Gannett, of course, owns USA Today and most of the significant Wisconsin dailies outside of Madison. As a watcher of media, I can't believe I didn't know until today that Gatehouse falls under a hedge fund controlled by Wesley Freakin' Edens. This is bad for newsgathering, bad for the profession of journalism and bad for local focus.

My wife usually makes homemade pizza or we do Blaze or something, but when we do frozen I'm partial to Jack's Naturally Rising.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
Woodmans is fine but the old ladies in there are downright vicious. I'd probably go there if I didn't have to pass 8 other grocery stores to get to one. The few bucks I might save just isn't worth the hassle. I really like Millers in Verona and Mount Horeb. I would rather not have to ever go to a piggly wiggly or pick and save.

You don’t want to pay $7 for the honor of serving yourself pasta mixed with Italian dressing that has been sitting out in the open for hours in a busy store at fart level and touched by any yokel with the flu/C. Diff/MRSA/whatever? Btw, you also get the amazing experience of checking yourself out and bagging said pasta salad.
Pick and save (metro market) lost my business a year or so ago. The three bucks you may save there over sendiks isn’t worth the frustration and knowledge that they are profiting more by not employing human beings.
If you want to save money, gotta do woodmans.
$3, haha.
Sendik's can **** right off. Ridiculous pricing for meh food. I will go there for meat though. They get that part right.
Agree on Woodman's. I go once a month and I'm good to go generally.

In general I don't go to Woodmans for the prices (honestly didn't know they were any cheaper), it's just that they have literally ****' everything. The weirdest, most obscure ingredients that other grocers typically don't stock.

Jack's is good drunk pizza.
If I'm going to eat the pizza the same day, I will get a refrigerated one made by the deli of whatever grocer I'm at.
If I'm getting frozen ones for future nights that my wife is away on business, I buy whichever is on sale of the pricier ones. That usually rotates between Lotzza Motzza, 7th Avenue, Heggie's, Screamin' Sicilian, etc.
HR, I get those Gino's East deep dish once in great while, but the cook time is a killer.

I live over behind the Costco in Sun Prairie so Woodmans is a 2 minute drive away at all times. If I could start my own religion it would revolve around Woodmans and Kwik Trip $1.50 Tuesday ($1.00 the third Wednesday of every month) rib sandwich.
New topic. Give me your top 5 Kwik Trip Hot Food Items:
1. Rib Sandwich
2. Spicy Chicken Sandwich
3. Bacon Angus Cheeseburger
4. Breakfast Burger
5. Breakfast Pizza
Also, yes I realize this is kind of a sad topic, but I regret nothing.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
After driving through an awful downpour on the way up to Menomonie - first time I've ever pulled over because of rain - I arrive in Menomonie to discover that the hotel I'm staying in needs an hour to get my room ready because they only have one person on staff that day.
So I decide to grab dinner. Me and my coworker take DB's advice and go to Lucette's to discover that they close their kitchen an hour before they close properly. Hmph.
So instead, we go to Logjams, which is pretty good. We then go back to the hotel, and they give me a room key to a room that is ALREADY OCCUPIED. Thank God I didn't walk in on someone who was packing heat...my corpse would have been a national story.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
Why is it next to impossible to find a frozen buffalo chicken pizza? Palermo’s used to make one. I think Drafthaus, maybe, makes one that’s not bad, but my **** Hy Vee seems to be the one place in Madison that doesn’t carry it. Seems like a big gap in the pizza market... most of these brands make 10 different combos of sausage, pepperoni, onions and peppers (which are all good toppings... but branch the **** out!)
