Good to see USA pull that off. Seemed like Mexico was going to put one in at any moment and we struggled to put much together the last 15-20 minutes. Beautiful ball in on the free kick, I liked that more than the header itself.

didnt know yall were soccer fans.
love to see it.

eveyrone trying to say how we gotta respect and start giving credit to GGG now.
2 finals victories over mexico.
well,
when u start Arriola and Lletget, and give Roldan playing time, GGG can phuck off.
winning the GC was great, but,
why not bring in Clark and Cowell?
two high level youngsters.
didnt need to bring Arriola and Lewis and/or Roldan.

GGGs best attribute has been being able to make adjustments.
hes been making some slight formation changes and approaches, and most of his subs have worked out.

WCQ coming up.
i expect usa to be in the top 2.
which will also help our world rankings.
should be top 10 by end of the year.

It's official, Messi is leaving Barcelona.

Surprising after they had allegedly agreed to a contract a month ago. I wonder if Barca decided that they couldn't afford his wage demands. I'm sure he's destined to join Man City.

Edit: Apparently Barca is saying that the new salary cap basically precludes them from signing Messi. They're giving a big middle finger to La Liga.

How did you guys get into soccer? I really want to learn about and it become a fan but it’s so overwhelming and confusing. What league do I tune into for the best players in the world?

IMO the English Premier League is the best place to start. Best competition top to bottom, and then watch Champions League.

I'd echo this and add that it's more fun when you pick a team to follow and go from there. The easiest ones to follow stateside - the ones you'll always find on TV - are the "Top 6" teams in the Premier League (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham). Those are clubs who spend the most, generally have the most talent, and, even during down years, won't be bad enough to get relegated. It's frontrunning to an extent, though, and if you want to follow a scrappy underdog, go for it. I chose Liverpool in the mid oughts just as Steven Gerrard led them to a historic comeback to win the Champions League, and have followed them ever since (even during some really down years where they were on the verge of bankruptcy). But if I had to pick a club out of the Top 6, I'd look at Leicester City or Wolves.

If you really want to get at least a cursory level of familiarity with the players, I'd honestly suggest picking up a FIFA video game. It won't give you the best sense of how a football game is actually played from a strategic sense, but it'll give you a start on some of the names associated with the clubs you're following, and the ratings will give you a sense of how good the players are relative to each other. It's far from a perfect or totally accurate representation, but it's a hands on way of learning about the teams you follow and who plays for them.

And then, just watch. Watch the games. That's what got me hooked in the mid oughts.

This was how I was able to speak conversational hockey in the mid-90s without ever watching an actual game.

This or play some low-stakes DFS.

I played football and basketball DFS, and decided to give MLB a shot this year. Before this season I could legit count on 2 hands the number of players I knew outside of the Brewers. Now I know relevant players even on scrub teams like the Orioles.

I'm a runner. Not like an Olympian runner, obviously, and not even like a very serious "normal" person. Never done a marathon, or a half (though I'd like to - my personal goal), but I've done several 10Ks and whatnot and run...I dunno, maybe 10-20 miles a week depending upon schedule and all of that.

I watch the Olympic events like the decathlon, where they run (about) a mile, and my mind knows they are blazing but my eyes say they look slow. And I can't figure out why it doesn't translate on TV well. Like if I saw these men or women running down the street or path next to me they would **** blow me out of the water, but on TV it looks like it's a leisurely jog. Kinda funny.
