Extreme optimist take is that internally they are anticipating leaps from Green and AJax to be core rotation dudes and felt comfortable nabbing a couple lottery tickets that they like way more than the possibly more ready to play dudes available

Yea think you'd hope for that big athletic wing or modern athletic 4 type who can switch tons of positions. Generally speaking, that is the type of guy we've been needing the last few years (basically a young Crowder type with more height). And hey this guy could be become that, who knows, but it seems he's another guy who can't play right away so who knows what happens 2-3 years down the line. Which is the theme of the last several drafts and none have panned out yet

Agree. Being forced to play center might have hid his strengths and exacerbated his weaknesses.
