Preferred Trades
1. Spurs - ( If they win the lottery) #1 ( Flagg ) / Castle / 2028 1st
2. Thunder - Williams/Dort/2025 2nd and 2028 1st
3. Nets - ( If they win the lottery) #1 ( Flagg ), Bucks 2025 1st back, Nets 2026 1st, Knicks 2027 1st, Nets 2030 1st - Claxton
4. Rockets - Thompson/ PHX 2025 1st, HOU 2028 1st, 2029 1st via Dal
Any one have a different order? I tried to get 2028 and beyond 1st back from the teams we are trading with cause ultimate goal would be to resign Giannis after the 26/27 season
Keeping Giannis with our cap situation is chasing the 7/8 seed.

Can we finally throw the last shovel of dirt on 'just surround Giannis with shooters'?
Yes & no. Much of the time Giannis was an unwilling passer. So he could change that mindset. And also, he wasn't the 1 surrounded w/ those shooters often. Game 5 was the 1st time in the starting lineup. It did get a lot better results. Should have won at their place.
Many of us have said many times that the key isn't surrounding Giannis with guys who can shoot a high percentage from 3 on wide open shots. The key is putting a couple *great* shooters around Giannis. Guys who will absolutely tear the game apart if you aren't right on top of them. Guys like AJ Green.
To my mind, this is the most important chart for us all to consider going forward.

If you can find a bigger guy who can shoot and defend like AJ, to put alongside the rim pressure and playmaking of Giannis and KPJ, and the generally complementary abilities of Bobby, that guy is going to be a catapult for this team. We should be prying up the floorboards looking for him.

Honestly, I realize some of these teams may be built to win now (if Wemby is healthy, Spurs) but is Giannis for the known #1 overall pick basically even? Obviously you have a top 5 NBA player vs. a guy you are hoping is a top 5 NBA player...but Giannis is only signed for 2 years, has a huge salary.
I'm not sure I can see a team throwing a trove of extra assets in on top of Cooper Flagg for Giannis, but maybe I'm way off.

Probably first start looking for a less established guy to bring in where it doesn’t cost as much, though.

That is two playable players, GA and Green. Explain to me how we build this roster with no picks and no cap space.
Am i wrong i just read a article yesterdsy that said if lopez walks we have 34 million in cap space am i wrong. It said we would be barely above first apron n way below 2nd would hsve exemptions to use as well as 32.5 milliom to hit 2nd apron

From what I understand, Bucks have:
$14.1M TPMLE
$5.1M BAE
$7.2M TPE
Can also offer Trent/Porter 120% of current deals, which obviously won't be enough for either. They can split the $14.1M TPMLE into multiple players.
I am not sure what the ramificantions of Dame and if we get any salary relief based on his injury.

If we apply for it, we can get the 14M DPE from the Dame injury. That has to be a one year deal, or an expiring contract, but that’s another thing in our quiver.

From what I have seen, they won't get the DPE.

I wouldn't say Kuz is untradeable, but definitely negative value. Midds $40m expiring would seem like a better asset than Kuz 2 yr deal.

Do you think they could get a Michael Porter Jr. level guy for Dame's contract to provide apron relief in the middle of season after next? I'd say MPJ himself, but his contract aligns w/ Dame's. They'd have to extend him and see the team continue to go off the rails in Denver.
I'd broaden that out to just what's the best player we could get for Dame's contract, + maybe the '31 1st, if we double-down on mortgaging the future and sticking w/ Giannis. Because that might be their way forward, after a gap year. Again, this is not my ideal. But working w/ their parameters.

Shotgun approach. Draft Tonje or Lanier in the 2nd for a 2 way. Sign Swider to a 2 way.
Tyler Smith's shooting looks promising, but his defense does not. AJ Green looked completely overmatched defensively when he started here and now is our 2nd best defender. I still don't think it's reasonable to expect the level of defensive improvement we've seen from AJ from anybody ever, but I'll put it out there anyway. Put Tyler Smith and Chris Livingston into the teleportation machine from The Fly and hope you get the right mix?

Which put us in the weird position of working with Giannis to get his preferred destination while still keeping a bidding war. We need him to be willing to sign an extension with any of those teams. 1-3 make sense either from a (you would get multiple rings for SAS/OKC or huge market to be teamed up with another star later in NYC). But there probably arent many teams that Giannis would have that commitment too after the Bucks push him out the door.

Brooklyn have said repeatedly they don't want to help us keep Giannis. We also have to keep Kuzma for a half yr, see if he rebounds at least to career norms, if not better w/ looks from Giannis, & what Giannis 5/Kuz 4 looks like not under the worst coach in the NBA. Then move him probably.
We have to play the stock market better. You figure part of the thinking in acquiring him in the 1st place is they were buying low. They must be able to read a stat sheet. But thought he'd bounceback on a winning team. It looked like he did early. Next yr he should come in better shape at least.
