We have the greatest transition big of all time, we need to focus on a fast paced team from top to bottom. Sadly that means Brook, Bobby and maybe Dame need to be converted into pieces that fit that identity.

BOS in Lillard (maybe routed to third team), Pat C
MKE in Jaylen Brown, Porzingas (you guys decide if picks need to be involved)

BOS starts a gap year and cuts loads of long term money. Bucks get pieces they need to fit their new identity.

CHI in Kuzma
MKE in Pat Williams, 1st round pick

Bucks save a few million next year (I believe) and hope the change of scenery ignites PW career

PG KPJ, Rollins
SG Brown, AJ Green
SF PW, Trent(maybe he starts),AJJ, draft pick
PF Giannis, Portis, Smith
C Porzingas, Sims

6th man Jrue

I’d actually consider having Jrue and Porzingas lead the second unit and starting Sims to be faster as a starting unit. Still have Bobby’s contract if he opts in to move for any random first.

This idea that any of these dudes on the roster outside of maybe Tyler Smith have any sort of untapped potential/development worth exploring is an even tougher sell than the "gap year" pitch. I don't see any sort of logic in rolling into next year with an absolutely barren front court rotation. Why? So Giannis can get beat to **** having to anchor the defense/rebounding in addition to his (likely) career high offensive usage?

Brook Lopez became a completely different player at 29. Not out of the question.

Yes...but before that season, Brook had averaged 19 and 7 for his career lol. Sims has averaged 2 and 4.

Not comparing stats or the players directly, simply saying that adding a jumpshot or whatever else to your repertoire at age 27 isn't out of the question.

Sims has also been stuck behind Hartenstein, Robinson, and Towns his entire career. He fit in really well here.

Huge Tax savings – Get out of the last year of Holiday deal, plus when Tatum is ready, Kuzma expiring contract is easier to move than Holiday.

Bucks get: Holiday/Collins/Clarkson
Bucks trade: Lilliard / 2031 unprotected 1st
Bucks take on Holiday contract, get two useful pieces, trade away an unprotected 1st for Jazz taking Lillard

Jazz get: Lillard/Patrick Williams/2027 Bulls 1st and 2031 Bucks 1st
Jazz trade: Collins/Sexton/Clarkson
Get draft picks for taking on Lillard and Williams

Bulls get: Sexton
Bulls trade: Wiliams/2027 1st
Get out of williams contact

Only one I’m iffy about is the Jazz.

Taking on Jrue’s contract while giving up a first and only getting two completely MID dudes who are not good fits with Giannis is pretty iffy from the Bucks perspective.imo

Why not see if OKC would trade SGA for Dame's bad contract before begrudgingly settling on Jaylen Brown?

Keeping Sims as an athletic bench big on a small contract seems reasonable. He showed that he is useful in the regular season and playoffs. He’s probably never a starter but he’s a good big off the bench and plays with energy.

Also for anyone thinking the Celtics are giving away Brown, you’re crazy. They’ll move KP and Jrue this offseason to get below the second apron. They’ll roll with White, Pritchard, JB next season which is probably good enough to be a play in team while they wait for Tatum to get back the next year.

Horford probably walks. They’ll likely also trade Hauser since his salary is spiking. They’ll probably keep Kornet since he’s 30 so no one is giving him a big contract. Tillman and Queta see increased minutes to see if they are rotational pieces in the future. But they will not intentionally tank when they’ll want to try to contend the following season when Tatum is back.

Awfully prickly response. I’ve seen on the trade board BOS fans trying to move off Brown. Lillard is a massive expiring after their punt year, if you don’t agree, go ahead and equalize the value, but your response is just lame. You do you, but I fear Doc has ruined you as a poster.

I bet OKC would give us 24 for our ‘26 swap.

I’d like to attach that to a larger deal where we send out that and ‘31, and I’ve been using that in most of my recent proposals.

Maybe we could find another team to work with instead of OKC.

Nah, he was just pointing out your trade value is hilariously off base. Bucks don’t have enough assets to get Brown.

Then that is a much better response. I’m not convinced they wouldn’t move him in salary reduction, but obviously everyone has their own idea of what players are worth. So open to the idea Brown is worth more than I thought.

Yeah, a top 15 player who is a two way wing and was the best player on a title team just last year who is only 29 is probably worth more than a guy who tore his achilles. Glad you are open to that possibility.

My post had nothing to do w/ Doc. It was a fair response to a fantastical trade idea. I didn't call names. You're the one who got personal.

Celtics probably aren't moving Brown but we don't have to go completely the other way with this "Top-15 player" myth. I think the best you're gonna do with Dame/2031 1st is that Jrue/Porzingis and maybe a lesser draft asset (28th pick or 2026 Boston lotto-protected 1st) proposal from a few weeks back. But that kinda defeats the whole purpose for me in taking on the Celtics' high salary dudes to stockpile as many tradeable future assets as you can for next offseason. Thankfully that's one short-sighted move that I feel pretty confident the organization has no appetite for (attaching that pick just to dump Dame).

I doubt the Celtics don't keep together the Brown-Tatum core for the '26-27 season. They still have a few more years to go for titles w/ them. They're exponentially more likely to try and offload Porzi, Jrue, etc.; while attaching picks, maybe even Pritchard if really needed.

But if they were to trade Jaylen Brown, any team with cap space, like Brooklyn, would eat his whole salary, or most if not possible, while probably giving up picks in addition. Brooklyn has many. It's the type of thing they've been looking for, w/ the Giannis dream or as a plan B.

the thing is brown has 4 years 280mil left and the Celtics are DEEP into the tax if they don't shed salary

I don't think deal based around Dame for Brown is realistic, but it's at least somewhat possible

idk how many teams are going to give up assets to pay brown 60m a year

No it’s impossible. They could unload Brown on the Nets and get picks if they simply want to unload him. Nets do that in a heartbeat. That’s before mentioning they can duck the second apron by instead trading Jrue and KP and Hauser while letting Horford walk.

Major roster moves are now happening more and more via trades rather than free agency, in part due to the NBA making it easier for players to sign extensions since the 2017 collective bargaining agreement. Under the 2011 CBA, there were an average of just two veteran extensions per season and that increased to 10 under the 2017 CBA. Since the 2023 CBA, there have been average of 20 players to sign extensions per season. The increase of 900 percent over the timespan doesn't even include rookie-scale or designated player extensions.

Durant is an example of a player who likely wouldn't have reached free agency as he did in 2016 had the supermax extension been available to he and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The supermax was instituted, at least in part, due to his exit to the Golden State Warriors.

Bolded for emphasis. It's crazy how much these guys are getting paid now, which is why even if I don't think Brown gets moved this offseason, we're about to find out soon how much "value" the 2nd-tier max and super-max guys actually have. It's at the point where I think if Boston puts him on the market, they wouldn't trade him not out of any loyalty or idea that he's too valuable, but that they'd be so underwhelmed by the returns that it wouldn't be worth it to them. It's a different story if you draft these guys, but paying 40% of your cap to a really solid #2 type player isn't a luxury most teams can justify acquiring via trade. We don't have a competitive offer now. Next offseason when you'd have Dame's expiring and 3-4 future picks/swaps though? Not out of the question.

Maybe, but more likely, to win the series we needed 1 more contributor

Are you watching the playoffs? Pacers are flying around like a blur and any sloppy dribble is being taken and dunked the other way. We need to change half our team still to get faster and better.

We're really good and play fast when Dame is off the court. We were dominant when the right guys are on the floor. +32/100 with Bobby on. +28/100 with Green on. We were very good with Trent.

Sure, I guess that's changing half the team, but half the team is keepers.

We played the Pacers better than everyone despite getting straight treason from Kuzma, Lopez, and Prince.

We need to stop sugar-coating that series. Pacers gentleman's swept us with an average margin of nearly 8-points. They blew us out in 2-games, led wire-to-wire in another, and only one of the losses was "close" (the epic meltdown Game 5). We were literally the least competitive series for them lol.

We need to stop using the phrase "gentleman sweep" in a series where in the closeout game, which is the only time the lineup that won their minutes was started, it took a collapse in both regulation and OT for the Bucks not get a game 6 at home.

As if the Pacers conceded the earlier game out of not trying & said now we're really going to get serious, the last minute of a game they were about to lose. Then they telekinetically made a ball go thru Gary Trent's hands. lol

To analyze that series without mentioning the difference in lineups when certain players were on and off the court is no analysis at all.

Not saying the Bucks would have won the series. We'll never know. I do know the Buck's coach gift wrapped the series to the Pacers.

I told my buddy that I'm not a conspiracy guy, but that no coach could be that stupid to play the lineups he did and thus Doc might be on the take.
