Marks has us 22 below the tax line with 8 contracts. Assuming we use the 14 MLE across Trent and KPJ. That would basically only leave min deals left after that and goodbye Brook.
Wonder if they'll stretch Pat or do some type of Pat for Javon Carter type deal to save a few million.

That's a steal of a contract with the money that has been thrown around.

If we can split the MLE between Trent and KPJ, we’d have the BAE still to sign someone right? Plus the vet min deals to fill out the roster and hopefully Brook S&T for a bench guy or draft capital.

Great to get him on that number and great to get it on 3-years instead of 4.

That's how it works. We have more FA resources than at any point during the contention era. And this is Horst's lone skill.
So it'd be, let's say, LaRavia at the BAE. Then maybe Horst could sneak in another vet min Gary.
The bonus would be if he s&t'ed Brook, & maybe our future 1st(s) for something juicy, but that's normally out of Johnny's wheelhouse.

Yesss Bobby!
And as usual the Horst Special PO. Although I'm fine with it in this case, this is the sort of situation where you give the player a bit extra if he's taking a bit less

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Portis Returns - 3/$45 million
If the Bucks are staying under the tax. We only have the 14 million in MLE or resign brook for roughly that number. Then 4 vet mins, thats it.
Other avenues open if we go over the luxury tax line(that would be the repeater tax). Or go into the season and stretch Pat at some point.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Portis Returns - 3/$45 million
Here's what i got assuming the following:
*14 contracts
*Waive Livingston
*Bogi on nba team, makes 2.2 this year
*Use full MLE (let's say Trent)
*Use full BAE (let's just say KPJ) (Or you can give KPJ the MLE, let Trent walk, and sign a FA with BAE)
*Re Sign Sims to the min
*Sign some vet for around 2.4M

This would put us .5M over the tax line and we still have not allocated any money towards Rollins. Even if Rollins gets a big offer somewhere else, we would still need money to sign a vet FA in that slot. So we currently do not have space under the luxury tax line to both fill a full roster AND use the full MLE and BAE.
So this is why there is talk about MOVIN MONEY. Something's going to have to happen with a Pat waive and stretch being the backup plan i would assume. Doing that would allow us to pay Rollins up to something like 5M annually.

We are without a doubt paying the tax. The new rules state you have to be out of the tax for 2 years to avoid the repeater tax, and that isn't happening. We can use our TPE or take back more money in trade.

a) for effort
b) you're triggering me w/ this full MLE for Trent talk. It's worse than the BP 4/80 stuff. He shouldn't get that, & he in all likelihood won't. It also impedes us from signing another rotation player. We need a true MLE split involving him, or we should go in another direction.
c) we can go in the tax a little. Up to like 8m we're only paying 12 in tax. That's opportunity cost. Beyond, it jumps to 30+. Not worth it. We're capped @ the 1st apron anyway. Don't think we need to move $, unless we're s&t'ing Brook & taking equal salary back, or foolishly re-signing him.

Nice - one thing to note - Shams is reporting Bobby's deal at $44m not $45 (as it says in the thread title)...?

1. Trent for full MLE is a place holder.. Just assume we use the full MLE
2. If we go into the tax, we no longer have the full MLE, we have the baby MLE which is only 5.7 instead of 14.1. So we are not going into the tax but it has nothing to do with the actual tax.

That's not for now. They can't retroactively apply it. Like, Gary, you signed for the MLE, but others took you over, now that's rescinded. They have to get under before the end of next season, to have access that offseason, like we did this passed one from the Kuz trade.

I have a solution. Get rid of Kuzma. Horst is dumb for getting him, but there has to be at least one or two dumber GMs.
The problem is that I don't even know that they want to get rid of him.

$44 million is right. I've corrected the thread title.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

That's just an order of operations thing. We can use the full MLE, BAE, and pay the tax. The only obstacle is we'll be hardcapped at the Apron, which is $6 million more than the tax threshold.
