Re: '14 Draft Thread (Let's talk late lotto again! Yaaay!!)
First, the draft is good but right now is insanely overrated
Second, Exum declaring is great news for every team that will be in the lottery, best upside after Wiggins, not even close.
Third, a lot of guys won't declare, most likely, Aaron Gordon, Tarczewski, Embiid, Selden, Walker, Hill, Dakari Johnson, Aaron Harrison or Young, Hezonja, Grant, Dekker, even Poythress or Saric could wait.
There are 5 prospects ahead of anyone for me, Wiggins, Exum, Randle, Parker and Smart.
Gary Harris is a great prospect too, underrated at this point.
Bucks should've a pick between 5 and 10, it will be difficult to grab an elite prospect there, this is a weak Draft if you want a Center, but the Bucks shouldn't pick one, it's also bad at PF, but you guys are fine there also.
It's a great Draft for PGs and SFs, and you need one of those, at 5-10th, right now in my board I have something like, Andrew Harrison, Glenn Robinson III, James Young (if he's in), Jahii Carson, Hezonja, Christon, Gary Harris...
Probably I'll go with Andrew Harrison right now, highest ceiling, can play with Knight and Mayo, because of his height, downside is his attitude, he has an awful body language, like Starbury, Jennings and guys like that, and is too cocky, I don't know how coachable he's.
I love Jahii, but he's 5'11 and really streaky at shooting, Christon is Rondo-lite at shooting, with Bledsoe decision making, or something like that, the other option could be Robinson III, he projects to be a solid 3rd option, in the mold of Iguodala, strong defender, good passer and rebounder, not much of a shooter.
I will not get my hopes too up, because most of this boards are crowded with guys that will not be there in a year.
And, stay away from Aaron Gordon, he's the most overrated player from this class and I really hopes he stays at least for two years at Arizona, he is not going to be anything special, anyway, but at least he could be useful, he has potential as a defender and hustle PF, if he learns how to move, use his body, improve his footwork, etc...
No way he plays SF in the NBA, ever.

He's a SG, no way he ends up playing PG, he's 6'6 with long arms around 6'10, but he's a ball dominant SG, he has things from Roy, Penny, Ginobili, Barbosa, Crawford and Kobe.
Yes, Kobe, he just turned 18, and his body is filling up nicely, the guy first step is a killer and he has improved his shot immensely in 1 year.

Embiid won't be there most likely.
First, the guy is really raw, second, he won't start for Kansas with Perry Ellis and Tarik Black there, and they also have good hustle bigs from the bench in Wesley, Traylor, and a big man with nice touch in Landen Lucas, let's see how much he plays this year.
Self will play some smallball too, with all the wings he has in that roster.
Embiid and Selden will be overshadowed by Wiggins also, they most likely stay at Kansas for 2 years at least.

None of them are PGs, Carter-Williams is a SG, as a PG he makes terrible decisions, his handles are too shaky and he can't shot nor break his own man in 1on1.
If Carter-Williams is leading your team and has a high usage for you, you will be a lottery team forever, the guy will end up as a defensive SG that can create a little bit, like Shumpert.
You need to watch Exum, his offensive game is awesome for an 18 year old player that has never played outside of Australia in HS.

Guys I've seen enough of to get an opinion
1 - Andrew Wiggins - Obvious is obvious
3 - Dante Exum - Very intriguing "star" potential
4 - Jabari Parker - He's good, but I have a feeling he'll disappoint.
5 - Marcus Smart - Not sure if he's Tyreke Evans, Evan Turner, James Harden or Dwyane Wade. He has the talent though.
9 - Dario Saric - I liked him mid lotto this draft, I'd be fine with him.
12 - Gary Harris - He REALLY intrigues me.
13 - Glenn Robinson III - Same with Saric, but I like him even more.
14 - Willie Cauley-Stein - Has a ton of tools, ridicuolous size being the main one. If he can pull it together this season he's going high, really high.
16 - Mitch McGary - I don't know what to think about him. My gut says no, will probably have a real good feeling after this season.
18 - Sam Dekker - Don't think he'll be a whole lot more then Kyle Singler.
21 - Alex Poythress - He should've came out this year, I'm not a big fan.
27 - Doug MeDermott - No.
28 - Isaiah Austin - He could be an extreme sleeper. With the right coaching he could be a really good player.
29 - James McAdoo - No.

I'm going to wait to see actual college tapes for most of these freshman, because high school mixtapes can make any player look good.
I'm really curious about the PG Harrison brother though. Watching his tape, I just have a gut feeling that he's going to be a major disappointment. Same with Dakari.
Really curious to see Jerami Grant this year. He has so much potential.

Randle is such an insane athlete. Curious to see his perimeter skills once he gets to college.

There are all-stars and franchise players to be had even in the top 8... of course, the Bucks don't project as being one of the 8th worst teams right now, so it's moot. Can't the Bucks ever do anything right? All they need to do is tank this one year, then they can go back to doing whatever silly thing they want to do... just one year, when there are multiple stars to be had. But they've still done enough to ensure it's a long shot that they get a top 8 pick.

You are a hungry, hungry troll right now.
The Bucks have, surprisingly done two or three good things in a row. Many do project the Bucks to be in the top 8 worst teams in the league. So as long as we are in the 5-9 worst range, I think I'll be dissapointed but OK. We'd have a fighting chance at the top 3 or 4.
The Bulls are the absolute worst.

The Bucks seem to have too many Vets and too much size to be truly bad. And there's at least 7 teams who are committed to proper tanking. Maybe more as the season goes on. It's not "trolling" to point out the truth.

The Bucks are top8 worst indeed
Philadelphia
Utah
Orlando
Phoenix
Sacramento
Charlotte
Boston
Milwaukee
The thing is, there are not 8 franchise players/all stars in this Draft, more like 5 and this is if all of them pan out.
You are overrating the Draft a lot.

How many times are their 5 franchise type player in a class?

I don't think there are 8 franchise players, I said 8 guys who are at least all-stars, some of whom look like a strong bet to be franchise players. I'd say about 8 who look like solid bets to be all-stars, and of those about 4 who look like very good money to be franchise players.

Let's also remember that the Wizards got the number 3 pick last year with the eighth worst record.
I'd feel ok, like I said, in the 5-8, 5-9 range of worst records. However, I'd honestly like to be a little worse.
I think 4 of the top 5 will pan out to be franchise players. That's a great opportunity for us and the first time since '03 that's been the case.

I feel like the top 4-5 looks like Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Exum and Smart. It seems like the odds those guys can be franchise players is really high. Then from 6-9 there is Selden, Christon, Embiid and Cauley-Stein. All of those 4 look like they have all-star potential, some more than others. Most, if not all, of those guys would probably have had a good case to go #1 this year.

Why do you count Embiid and Selden in when they are likely not? and Christon is too high, first he's already 21 and he's a sophmore, second he can't shot, and his decision making is terrible, he's a bigger version of Bledsoe right now.
Maybe he pan out as an All Star, maybe not, Cauley-Stein is incredibly raw too.
Gary Harris is better than all of them as a prospect.
Regarding the top5, Marcus Smart doesnt seem to be a franchise player in my eyes, possibly an All Star yea, but not really the best player of any competitive team.
The other 4 is another story, but those 4 will go top4 unless something shocking happens, and the Bucks won't be there unless they hit the jackpot during the lottery.
