In the last minute I opted for a flat roof and now the thing looks something between a shipping container and a sardine can :D

Where'd you get those tiny windows? Looks great.

made them :D

tassie oak and perspex from bunnings, cut them both on the mitre saw

ended up making the door too, out of dressed pine. I went to the door shop and literally the only exterior door I liked was his toilet door :D

Image

I asked him if he sells it and he said no, so I made something similar myself (ran a plane along the edges of the boards to get a bit of a bevel)

Love that there's someone more DIY than me.

I'm only just starting, it's a new thing for me (apart from the occasional reno). And yeah I'm excited, especially about the fact I still have 10 fingers attached :D

I'd post a picture of my fingers but I don't want to frighten anyone. In the last 5 years since I turned 30 I've done a few hundred hours renovation, 6 months of boxing and few seasons of basketball (about to come out of retirement) so mine are hideous. Crushed a finger so bad a few months ago I had to cut and rip half a finger nail off and then the other half came off later.

**** man
how did you manage that?

I want to add a table saw, mainly for furniture making, but it scares the living crap out of me because I know me and I'm not always 100% focused
somehow the mitre saw seems safer, but it's very limiting...

Same, want to make all sorts of furniture but it's mostly the price of the saw that's the scary thing.

I crushed my finger in a lever action pushing a heavy hardwood beam I made into my roof, it was 80% up and it kind of slipped out of my hands and the long part in the ceiling fell down and the small part left hanging down pushed my index finger into the ceiling with massive force to the point where it smashed then sort of bounced again and did a second crushing action into the ceiling. Pain was very insane, I was very fortunate that by chance a John Henson type interstate friend was in town and a got a delivery of natural pain relief because it was throbbing like mad.

This is the Packers radio announcer/sports director for a local TV station in Green Bay. If we can handle his finger, we can handle yours.

Surely you'd get it fixed or cut off. What the **** can you do with that thing?

Footy coach has a finger that's rooted but not that bad. Calls it the 'wife pleaser'.

If the coach makes a comment like that and none of you alludes to knowing what really pleases his wife then your team is not Australian.

Big DIY question- major bathroom reno- try it myself or bite the bullet and find the money to get someone who knows what they're doing? At a minimum I would pay for someone else to do the plumbing, waterproofing and tiling- am I basically then just getting to the point of "ahhhhh, **** it- just pay for the rest of it, too?"

I'm happy to do bits and pieces of reno work myself, but this seems to fall into the "rather not totally screw it up" area?

Do it yourself! Tiling is easy, do that and you'll get most of your savings because tilers charge crazy money.

I did an ensuite at my new dump of a house in I think May. 100% DIY. Granted it's tiny because I had to keep the room to the original ensuite size but it didn't cost a heap.

Still only about 90% or so finished but that's typical of my work.
