Happy birthday, chones.

I'm just glad the boards is unified, I feel like Cyrus at the beginning of "The Warriors" which I've haven't seen past the five minute mark, can't imagine anything disrupted the inter-gang harmony.

Much thanks, my dude.

Nice win. Less satisfying with George and Embiid out.

Cohesion was evident on both ends of the court. For all the criticism Rivers receives, the Bucks seemed to be executing a plan on both ends.

The vet minimum role players seem to fit with Lillard so much better than Beasley, Payne and Crowder. Beasley and Payne were obviously meant to pair with Holiday. Beasley, who had only averaged 16 starts per season before coming to Milwaukee, started 77 of 79 games played last year. He was simply asked to do too much.

Trent Jr. looked good chasing Maxey on the perimeter. Prince was good, but one should not fall for the sugar high of hot 3-pont shooting.

I agree with you. Horst needs to find someone like an overseas vet we can get on the cheap.

The coaching staff continuing to get on them about it would be helpful as well. Our players aren't morons but it's frustrating that they still can't get these bad habits out of their game.

Hopefully it's a matter of in game reps against different types of offenses to get the new guys integrated. I'm optimistic, we don't have inexperienced players so this shouldn't take long you'd think.

Just glad to hear RJ and Doris praise phillys depth for getting blown out at home. If embiid and george are ever healthy they could be a 4 seed

This is one of those 'how they won' makes you a little more optimistic than the win itself. I thought Philly got pretty good games from a lot of their players. I thought Oubre and Martin played okay, I thought Lowry played well, I thought Yabusele and Drummond were on the better end of expectations. But they won because they turned Maxey into a bad version of Allen Iverson for the night

These Nick Nurse Sixers are a crappy scrappy bunch. I'll be glad when Kyle Lowry and his cheap-ass tactics are nothing but an unpleasant memory.

I'm glad we stayed injury free
These Sixers take cheap shots with glee
Kyle the King of North Philly
Undercuts guys quite chilly
And Oubre will go for your knee

Maxey's a talented dude and this had vintage "Bud defense on Harden" kind of vibes. Certainly refreshing to see them gameplan for a specific elite offensive player and execute it to near perfection, even if they were short-handed.

Things I liked:

1) Made a concerted effort to post up Giannis
2) Decent perimeter defense
3) Doing whatever they can to keep Lopez down low on defense

Things I didn't:

1) I still don't want Giannis attacking the basket when he's at the top of the key in the regular season, unless it's crunch time. It's the main recipe for injury.
2) I would post up Lopez more and have him as a roller more on pnr.
3) Green was really bad guarding Maxie, but he needs to be given more chances to see if he is viable.

Loved: Giannis operating primarily out of the high post. No 3 pt attempts. Would love it even more if they involved him in more actions (dribble handoffs), rather than just ISO.

Loved: Dame's offense.

The big winners: Accountants of GTJ and Prince. Klay would challenge Korver's single season 3pt% record if he played for the Bucks.

Prince looked good, but having him in there in place of Midds is kind of a tantalizing reminder of what it's like if the guy in his spot can do 1000x more with the ball.

Also Pat looks better the more ball and player movement there is.

ALSO how long have we been begging for the team to work to get Giannis elbow catches? So good to see that emphasized.

These last few posts are similar to the things I feel about this game. I guess I'll add that I feel that we may have less need for a backup PG than an athletic big. And that this looked like an effortless win after the early challenge, and that I haven't seen one of those for a while.

Biggest takeaway from the game for me outside of svelte Dame. Granted it was a banged up 76ers squad on a one game sample but if the other four players can figure out how to effectively guard the perimeter, while keeping Brook down low by any means necessary, he can still positively impact the game defensively. Good start.

People can say they "loved" what they saw out of Dame, but c'mon, you're just saying that cuz he made shots lol. But this is why the hot/cold Dame takes are so fickle and belay the point. He's like, one of a handful of guys in this league where a pull-up 3 from 30-feet charging around a screen is actually a "good look" for him. As a Bucks fan, it's super weird seeing a guy who can do **** like this consistently after years of being subject to substandard and even downright trash guard offense.

The Giannis thing was the most important takeaway for me. The staff has him doing a lot more things off-ball, and when he does get the ball, it is in better positions to score.

He reverted to his old bully ball, I run the offense thing briefly in the 2nd half, and Philly took advantage of it to close the gap. But then Doc shifted personnel and got him calmed back down.

Bucks played with cohesion on offense, not random 5 out stuff. Resulted in safer and more controlled shots for GA. If this continues, Giannis’ numbers will be even better than last year. Doc and staff looked way better, with a camp to implement stuff. Dame looked way better. New guys (Prince, Wright, Trent) look like a better fit than last years. Brook looked fresher and lighter than last year.

Yep. Replace bully ball with the Khris/Giannis two man game when Dame sits.

Good ball movement and extending the lead while Giannis is on the bench. Loved seeing 5 of their guys in foul trouble (even if Giannis was intentionally missing fts to get himself some free chicken). Overall liked what I saw from the new editions. Solid start to the season.

Easy to keep Brook down low against a complete non shooter like Drummond. Unfortunately, every contender has a shooting center.

Huge that GTJ and Wright kept up to Maxey. Jrue couldn't even do that in the past.

Philly is really slow and unathletic outside of Maxey. Perfect matchup for us.
