The preferable outcome of Doc being moved upstairs into a talent evaluation and roster building role highlights just how **** we are.

With two years left on his deal and 2026 being a throwaway season, there's really no reason for the owners to fire him. Unless NBC makes him a godfather offer to be an analyst, he'll be around.

Just 2, and next year is Griffins final year. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they got out of some of Griffins deal. Griffin had a ton going on off the court, and simply wasn't here. Terrible timing. He was unqualified, but we also didn't get his best due to unforseen circumstances.

Re: The Doc Rivers watch thread (w/poll)
Griffin also only made 4 million a yr. That's peanuts. Doc & Griff combine to make 15 million per. That'd be tied for 3rd in the NBA. So basically you couldn't fire anyone in the top 4 at any point, if you can't fire Doc cuz you're paying coaches too much.
5 & 8 got fired. Both are better than Doc. Almost any coach, we could pay peanuts to, would be better/more committed than Doc. Look at Denver's replacement, or Prunty compared to Griff & Doc when we got to see that. And it's the easiest way to get better. This was always a silly excuse.

I feel like the days when I used to ask how many years before Larry Sanders is off the books.

So 25/26 could be a throw away yr letting griff buyout end and then doc is only 1 yr left on his deal and maybe then they decide to fire him

Re: The Doc Rivers watch thread (w/poll)
Are Edens and the other guys that dumb that they don't see that their coach can't even put out the most obvious lineup? The amount you're going to lose from attendance, tv ratings and demoralization is more than you're paying Doc.
I think it's going to get brutal next season if Doc is still here.

I think this all turns on Giannis. If he’s dealt they keep Doc. Save money.

you may be right, but if I'm going with a bunch of young guys, I don't want Doc coaching them.

Bud
Griffin
Doc
The fact that out of those 3 coaches, the only one that you won't fire is Doc is the ultimate litmus test that the Bucks front office is next level incompetent.
Not even necessarily saying that Bud and Griffin shouldn't have been fired, but out of the 3, the one you don't fire is Doc?

Jimmy Haslem might have the most punchable face in the history of punchable faces.

He should fire Doc just to prove it isn't him.

Oh, Doc will be fired. It's not only the nature of the profession, but specifically the nature of Doc.
The only question is when and if they wait until more damage is done.

Uggg, we need a coach and staff that actually develops players. AND if we get picks then we need a whole new scouting dept

I am 100% firing Doc if it is up to me. But I also recognize Rollins, Green, Sims, KPJ grew into role guys while Andre was given multiple opportunities as well. So there has been some dev there. What I don’t understand is what the hell the vision of this team for next three years looks like. I’m fatigued with the lack of identity and direction of this team.

Re: The Doc Rivers watch thread (w/poll)
I blew it guys and gals.
I was on the east side an hour ago and stopped in to Beans and Barley. I was almost ready to leave and in walks Bucks President Peter Feigen with his significant other (or so I assume) headed to the deli.
I walked past him and left. As I drove away, it hit me that I should have said something to him about Doc. I was headed west on North Avenue and turned around to go back. Meanwhile, I was rehearsing my spiel. I rush back into the restaurant and he's gone (5 minutes in total).
So there you have it. The fate of the Bucks was on my shoulders and I failed horribly. I have no excuses. My instincts failed me.

Feigen seems feisty. I bet he would have debated you.
