i think it's too quick to judge who got the better of this deal. sure on paper it looks like it favors the lakers. but kwame brown, even thought he never lived up to the expectations coming out of high school actually was starting to "come on." the last few games or so. Scoring is really not the lakers' problem anways. so adding gasol gives them scorers with odom, bryant, now gasol, bynum, and so on. gasol is just gonna take from the other guys scoring tho and their defense still needs some help.

i think they were better off just keeping brown to see if he improves and if he didn't, they should have traded for a guy like camby, haslem, or whatever. i think what the lakers needed was a PG and a PF who can score some but doesn't to be a focal point on offense and can bring toughness and muscle. so in opinion i see the lakers might of gotten a bit more on offense but not enough to get the lakers over the hump. the lakers GM i think blew it here. the grizzles even tho most say improved a bit for the future but lost in this deal.....i tend to disgree with that and am gonna say the grizzles got the better in this deal just by getting a young pg like crittendon to go along with conley and give them depth in case something fails....and brown should get better in memphis, and two future 1st round picks sealed the deal.

I really don't consider JCN a point guard. I guess maybe in very limited minutes. I think he's the shooter you bring off your bench. Even when he was starting and playing 37 minutes a game, he only averaged 3 assists to his 13 FGA. That makes Mo look like Jason Kidd.

I still think Conley is their man moving forward. I don't think he's going anywhere. He showed great flashes when he was starting; 10 points, 6 assists per game. I like to think we could put a package together for him, but I don't think anything realistic is out there to be truthful. Hope I'm wrong...

rilamann mentioned that the Lakers still wouldn't beat the Spurs, Suns, or Mavs in a series. I disagree. The Lakers have been able to give the Suns trouble even with Kobe playing superhero and doing everything. He has an even better supporting cast now. The Spurs are looking very beatable at this point. It'll be hard to judge them until we see them in the playoffs. The Mavs are tough, but Golden State proved that if you play them right you can knock them off. With Fisher/Kobe/Odom/Gasol/Bynum come playoff time I give them a shot.

Lakers have the potential to be very, very good IMO.

The Grizzlies also are set to trade Swift to the Nets for Collins...What are they doing? they gave away Gasol for Crittenton (and they already have Conley...), cap space and 2 firsts and (I know he had problems with Iavaroni so they wanted to trade him) Swift, whose contract wasn't guaranteed - player option - to take Collins, which is terrible and has a 6.2 M salary guaranteed for next year...They surely have a reason to have done this, but I can't understand...

I also don't consider JCN much of a point guard.. but I don't know what their ultimate goal is in stocking up on so many guys that can play pretty much the SG/PG role.

I would love to see us grab Conley and Darko from them for something like CV and Gadz (would never happen I know) but I also don't hold out a lot of hope for something like that.

True,in the back of my mind I always have to remind myself to cut LH a bit of slack since he is basically Kohl's puppet or messenger.

But at the same time did Kohl force Harris not to match Zaza and give Gadz that crazy contract?
