Yep, that's what I heard. 2nd rounder AND protections lifted.

So Grunfeld gave up TWO second round picks (one to us, one to CLE) and protections lifted on a third pick that we already owned from the Meeks deal?

I just don't think people have reported enough on how bad the Wiz got screwed here to bring down their tax bill by $6mm. Because I also believe the Wiz sent the Bucks cash ($1mm??) to offset the Smith/Dekker salaries.

ETA: This Wiz poster has a breakdown from their end. He's saying Cleveland sent us the Wiz 2021 2nd rounder which they owned.

viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1776248&start=20#p70881503

That doesn't make sense that we'd send a 2nd but then CLE also sends us a 2nd back.

Well I'd rather have the Wizards 2nd than ours. I think the later Wizards pick then compensates for that difference. Seems this was a very detailed negotiation.

The trade gives us a way clearer path towards keeping the band together if we want to go that route.

Either way though the Bucks made sure to get the deal done in time to give us flexibility to go different directions too.

I feel so bad for Wizards fans.

If Ernie does find a way to trade Wall I imagine they'd be getting an absolutely brutal return.

They're basically reliving the Gilbert Arenas fiasco.

No guns yet though.

Arenas, 30, had previously declined to go into great detail. This is what he says happened: Then-Wizards center JaVale McGee had beaten Crittenton out of $1,100 in a card game. Wizards guard Earl Boykins loaned McGee $200. McGee didn’t immediately pay back Boykins as he won the money and an argument blossomed. Arenas says he wasn’t involved in the actual bet. ‘Pay the man his (expletive) money. You’ve got all my money,’ Arenas says Crittenton shouted at McGee. ‘So I jumped in, ‘Why you talking to your teammates like this? We family.’ That’s when (Crittenton) started coming at me, ‘(Expletive, racial slur), just because you got all money, this and this and this.’ That’s when we started going back and forth. I didn’t owe him anything. It was over a $1,100 pot he just lost.’ Arenas pauses and sighs when asked how the situation escalated to the point of guns. ‘Someone said they were going to shoot me. So since I’m one of those guys who says, ‘I want to see this happen. I want to see you actually shoot me,’ that’s where that came from,’ says Arenas, declining to mention that someone by name. ‘I brought the four guns in and said (in a note), ‘Pick 1, so the day you want to shoot me let me know, I’ll be ready to get shot.’ That’s how.’ According to a D.C. Superior Court document from Jan. 15, 2010: Several witnesses agree that during an argument on a Dec. 20, 2009, flight from Phoenix to Washington, Arenas threatened to shoot Crittenton in the face and set his Escalade on fire and that Crittenton threatened to shoot Arenas in the knee.

So if you look at the ledger with Cleveland, we basically sent them a highly protected first and then swapped 2nd round picks, with us sending our own future 2nd but getting back a Wiz future 2nd they owned.

I just never saw that part about Cleveland paying us more. Have to admit Horst did really well here on the draft pick ledger.

This was some cap-expert level work TBH.

I really like it from Cleveland too, as Henson will have some value to them and Delly, while overpaid, will be a great presence in a rebuilding team.

I understand why Wiz did it too, and they got some things out of it, even though they did worst.

Not often where a 3 team trade benefits all 3 teams.

You think? From Crittenton's wiki page:

"While out on bond on the murder charges, Crittenton was arrested pursuant to a January 10, 2014, indictment of him and 13 other persons who were accused of selling multi-kilo quantities of cocaine and several hundred pounds of marijuana. Crittenton was charged with two counts of conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act.[18]

On April 29, 2015, shortly before his (murder) trial was set to begin, Crittenton pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison."

I was in Vegas a few years back playing blackjack. Guy next to me at the table is the life of the party, friendly to everyone, funny, talking up a storm, tipping dealers like crazy, drinking, pushing everyone to drink with him, tipping the waitresses for everyone, would play roulette spins while the dealer shuffled, betting a lot on both games, etc. A new dealer comes and asks to see his ID, I'm next to him so I see that it's Crittenton and I know this story about him and am like holy @#%*, he was out on bail or something at the time awaiting trial or hadn't turned himself in yet idk, don't remember the timeline for sure but this shooting had already happened. Finished up that shoe and got the heck out of there. He was really nice to me though...

Great trade, I really enjoy having my team take advantage of someone else's ineptitude for a change.
