Speaking of New Coke, this was a really good read from yesterday.

One thing that bothered me about Stranger Things...

Spoiler:
Is Hopper an ex-Navy Seal or something? Even so, he's fat, drinks a six-pack a day, and smokes. Is there any chance in hell he could actually last more than 30 seconds against a Russian special agent much less kill him?
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I have. I'm also not aware of anyone else who watches it though. To me, it's been fine. Generally worth watching if you're into the gangster drug dealing type of stuff. I'd say it's fine but I'm also not going around telling all my friends they "have to" watch it either. I think it's going down a good path overall and could end up being really good so I'm sticking with it and hopefully the new season is good. So, I know that doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement but if this type of show generally interest you I'm sure you'll be satisfied and won't regret it.

Spoiler:
I don't think he's dead either, but I was thinking, what if they said "The American" in the jail cell to get you to think it's Hopper, but then all of a sudden when they open the door, it's just some random American? I could see them doing that to mess with people lol.

Then why do I keep seeing commercials for it, along with Claws and Animal Kingdom?

Thanks. That sounds right up my alley and I saw John Singleton was a creator which, I mean, come on. Dude has been at the helm for three of my all-timers (Boyz n the Hood, Baby Boy, Hustle & Flow).

Re: who watches it. I saw a status about the new season on FB which prompted me to ask, but I generally don't align much with the person's taste

Spoiler:
Seen a lot of speculation that it's not Hopper but the doctor who Matthew Modine played since they reference him still being alive. Would make sense to keep him around so he can do experiments for the Russians.

I think I agree with that speculation, but I also think Hopper is alive in the Upside Down.

Remember when people bought DVDs and everyone was all about getting the Unrated version of something? Weird times.

RIP Torn. :-?

LEGEND. In his life he got arrested for breaking into a bank;  hit Norman Mailer with a hammer on set and a brawl ensued, which was caught on film and became part of the movie; got accused by Dennis Hopper of being threatened with a knife during Easy Rider (and then sued him for defamation and won $900K). LEGEND. We are worse off tomorrow.

Best performance was Freddy Got Fingered. Hands down.

You're probably not THAT much older than me.

When I was little, we would go to the video rental place off Oklahoma and Forest Home next to Knight's Popcorn. They still had a couple of beta tapes on the shelves.

The adult section was in the back behind saloon doors.

My dad got a widescreen version of something once and complained about the "big black bars on the top and bottom! Had to return it!"
