The amount of trees down in Madison/Verona/Mt. Horeb is wild. That was a big one.

There was a couple minutes last night where the wind was as bad as I've ever experienced. The neighborhood trees were damn near laid out flat during it and my whole damn house shook. Crazy stuff. Thankfully no damage that I've seen

Biggest storm, damage-wise, that I've seen since I moved to Madison 8 years ago. Lost power for about 20 hours. Insane number of trees down in my area including one that crushed a car.

The 2018 storm might've rivaled it, but that only hit the west side and was flooding, not wind, so not as visual.

Yeah sorry, I meant wind damage specifically. 2018 was almost certainly worse from a total destruction perspective.

I think Apple's top 100 album list is incredibly bad, but I am going to make an effort to listen to all the albums on there at least once.

I started with Pet Sounds tonight. Gotta say, Beach Boys are no Gin Blossoms.

Yeah, that was an insane downpour, but the flooding from that wasn't limited to the west side. A whole block of East Johnson was shut down for weeks and Tenney Park was a **** pond because Lake Mendota overflowed. People who lived near the lake were sandbagging around their homes. The isthmus was on alert of the possibility of having to evacuate in the event of another significant downpour. It was pretty incredible.

I don't know if this is an insult or not

Recently I read about how Good Vibrations changed pop music. It was really interesting. So maybe it's less that the albums are 'good' and more about their affect on music.

That event was that event, but there was also a ton of rain before and after which pushed the lakes to the brink

I have to believe it's this, because this album filled with mostly fine but uninteresting samey sounding pop songs has the longest goddamn Wiki I've ever seen. It's considered by a bunch of folks to be the best of all-time!

I did this with the Rolling Stone top 200 a little while ago, I skipped albums I already knew well or had absolutely no interest in- it was a really enjoyable experience. I think it may have been the first time I'd listened to Fela Kuti in a very, very long time and found I really dug Afrobeat as a genre and listen to it all the time now.

Compare the depth of sound, layering and use of instruments of (for example) Sloop John B to Surfin Safari and you can really hear the massive difference between the two.

Pet Sounds almost immediately became the new standard for rock and roll production.

2018 was a different beast. It didn't even feel like a storm. There was no real wind or lightning. The weather people didn't pay it any attention until it was too late. Went to bed the night before and woke up to 4 foot of sewage in my basement and a foot and a half of water and debris in my back yard. 16 inches of rain in 12 hours is a bitch.

Yeah, East Side was hit by flooding. Lanes of East Wash were closed for weeks in the low area leading up to the Capitol. Shoreline was obviously impacted by high waters.

Good nightmare fuel from those days was brushing up on potential implications if the Tenney Locks didn't hold.

Agreed.

Where TF is Sticky Fingers? Should be top 5.
