If Durant is getting traded I highly doubt it’s here. I can see OKc pulling the trigger on that basket full of picks they have.

If I were the Suns, I’d trade KD to OKC as long as the package of picks includes that unprotected Mavs 28 1st. Super tasty pick when AD is 35 and Kyrie is 34. They won’t be able to rehab the team’s image in time to sign any big name free agents.

Suns under their current ownership and GM do not scream 'I want picks' to me.

I'm not sure why the Suns would want to trade Durant for Butler. That's a downgrade and doesn't really solve any problems for them. I certainly don't believe Bud would enjoy coaching that dude, either. The only reason to add Butler is to play with Durant and Booker.

It might be they’ve realised they don’t have a good enough team and are trying to recoup some of that draft capital they gave up for Durant and Beal.

Okay, so lets play out the alternative. Who do they trade KD for that makes them better?

Booker, Beal, a third guy who is worse than Durant and some added role players is not going to get it done.

They only trade kd to go rebuild

I think it's kind of in-between. The suns don't own any of their own picks for a while so a 'rebuild' for them can't be the traditional trade everything for picks and suck.

Butler is too old but an ideal KD trade would be for some under 30 real players + draft picks or young depth they can try to put around Booker and actually try to win games.

Looks like Detroit absorbed KJ Martin for two seconds. Wonder if that had pushed the bucks to do this terrible trade to get under the apron.

Could also let Butler walk instead of pay him and you save a ton of money in luxury tax the next few years. If you're not competing, get youth/assets/picks along with a big reduction in salary is a route to do it.

Fox, Luka*, AD, Lavine, Khris, Kuzma, Christie already traded. Looking like this will be the craziest deadline in NBA history

He used to be a punching bag, but he’s been very plugged in for a few years now. The klutch connection is so big.

Why don't players want to play for Golden State?

If after all this, Pat Riley ends up with Kevin **** Durant in a Jimmy trade, then I really will believe that this league is rigged.
