Im waiving Merrill in that scenario. Guy just isnt physically gifted enough for the nba. Diakite could be something useful.

I 100% agree , but he has a 500k guarantee (so ~2-2.5M w/tax payments) that hopefully could be unloaded with the Bucks paying some team. Merrill is older than Rashad Vaughn who has been out of the league for a while now

From purely a fan perspective, I'm excited to see the mad scramble of picks and trades tonight while we can sit back in the security of knowing that no matter what happens we won the title and everyone is fighting to catch us now.

At least our draft hat looks pretty decent this year.

Agreed, in looking at the roster, it seems swapping out Merrill for a guy like Herb Jones in the 2nd would make sense.

I know nothing about any of these prospects. I just want us to make a move that signifies that we are still going all in next year even if it costs our owners some extra money.

Diakite isn't physically gifted either. A light gust of wind blows him over. It's going to take him a long time to get strong enough, if he ever does. We don't have the time as a contender. Even in the outside chance he becomes the next Christian Wood, that took several years. And his early teams who were contenders didn't get a taste of his benefits.

Trade or waive both these players since those roster spots can be filled with vets who have more use to us now and we'd have the inside track on as champs. The couple prospect slots should be filled by players with more realistic high upside before too long and players with utility for us now - i.e.: Nwora or let's say we swung a deal of Donte (+?) for Jalen Johnson.

Im not saying Diakite has elite athleticism, its just that Merrill is so obviously not cut out for the task at hand in a way that cant be fixed. With Diakite there is a chance.

I dont really think we will have so many capable vets and promising prospects that Diakite needs to be waived yet. If that scenario happens, great, but i doubt it.

I’m all in on trading 31 for a vet and buying a second round pick. I love Ayo, but I don’t think he will be there when we pick.

31 for Grayson Allen (absorb using DJ Wilson tpe)

BPA with a purchased second round pick.
-this is a deep draft, plenty of guys available

Agree with the sentiment that Merrill is the possible odd man out

Honestly, I don't see Allen as being any more talented than Merrill. And I think the Bucks should keep the pick. There's going to be at least 1 very good player available.

Btw, I'm amazed to find another Bucks/Orioles fan. O's are my 2nd favorite baseball team - unfortunately.

I personally don't think that, which is why I support waiving them. But I'm not advocating it just for the sake. So we can cross the bridge if/when we come to it.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading 31 for a solid bench guy and then buying back into the draft for a late second, but this draft has a lot great options around our pick. We have a good shot at ending up with a rotation guy on a rookie deal.

Guys I love that are unlikely to fall to 31:
Kai Jones
Trey Murphy
Jared Butler

Guys I love possibly at 31 (in order):
Tre Mann
Quentin Grimes
Ayo Dosumnu
Josh Primo
Deuce McBride
Josh Christopher
Bones Hyland

Can someone talk me out of having Tre Mann 9th on my board overall? I have him just behind Bouknight on my top 60. I love his game and what he could potentially be. He's got elite ball handling, can score at the rim (not super athletic but has impressive hang time), has a floater in his arsenal, legit 3 level scorer, showed some decent playmaking ability, defense was inconsistent but there's potential where he could be solid. And how much his strength and overall game improved in just a year is impressive. Work ethic clearly is there too. I would love for him to fall to 31.

If we think we need roster spots/cap space for ring chasers, and don't trade 31 tonight, I'd really, really love us to draft and stash Vrenz Bleijenbergh.

He's probably 2 years away from being half-decent in the NBA, but if he can figure things out he'll be an all-star, he's already a top 10 creator for his height worldwide.

By no means is he a bad prospect, but he's basically a lesser Luke Kennard with ball security issues (we obviously disagree on him having elite ball handling).

I watched him a lot because I love the Kennard types but I think your point about his improvement is salient. If he's a guy who is improving rapidly, he's a quality prospect. If he just figured out how to apply his skill level to the college game, he's garden variety.

Really hoping we keep the pick and potentially grab another one.
