Got Indiana Jones and PoE2 waiting when I get done with work. Not sure either will be my thing, but it'll be nice to play something new and meaty.

Only an hour or so into PoE2 but I'm enjoying it. Watched a couple short beginner videos, still don't really know what's going on. But the basics seem easy enough to pick up.

It's such a great time to jump in (as will be 1.0) because it's so much less complex and known right now than POE1. I also think like Troy that you will like this version better than 1 based on your other game tastes. Hope you enjoy.
Was curious if you were gonna pick-up Indiana Jones or not. That's probably on my list next as an Uncharted fan, but I know you are decisively not

Ironically it sounds like the game would have been better had it cribbed more from Uncharted! I was excited for this one but it seems like the gameplay aspect sucks sh*t. I definitely wouldn't have bought it but since it's on Game Pass I figured there's no harm in giving it a look, eventually.
But I'm happy that PoE2 seems like something that's going to be worth sinking my teeth into for the foreseeable future.

Oh damn, I should definitely look into that before I pick it up! I thought for sure it would be up my alley, but I haven't really followed at all (and don't have Game Pass) because of the timing of when it was coming out.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I used to be a avid console gamer, my time for gaming dwindled a little before the launch of PS5 and I just kind of stopped. I bought a few short term summer rental cabins, we got a few dogs and managing the rental changeovers and playing/training with the pups just kind of stopped having the time. When I did have time I was usually up at one of the cabins and web connectivity was limited to DSL. In the years since I put starlink at the rentals so now there is a more reliable connectivity, and we installed some BDAs to improve cellular and it seems like I am getting 5G at 2 of them as well, gaming up there in my overnights seems plausible. When steamdeck launched it piqued my interest, seemed like an interesting option, travel between the properties hauling a console or consoles around seemed like work if I spent a day at one and moved to another etc. Friend of mine gave me a vitture AR Pro smart glasses bundle, won it as a xmas party prize and he had one already, wanted me to have it for fixing his truck. Pretty cool a floating 135 inch display when hooked to the phone for watching netflix on the road. So now I am thinking gaming on that with a handheld might be just what gets me back to some quality gaming time. Only now I see a few options for handheld PC gaming devices, So I guess I am wondering what should I get, anybody playing on steamdeck, Rog Ally, Legion go etc. Anybody using that and smart glasses or cross platforming with friends on console?

Hugely enjoying PoE2. Impressed by the sound design and the manageable difficulty spikes so far. Combat's fun. Environments are geat. Bosses are fun. Don't love the amount of gear I get that I can't or won't ever use. I wish drops were a little more tilted towards my build. I've only spent time farming one of the early bosses and I'm sure it'll get better once I'm onto bigger and badder.

Did the first trial for my ascendancy last night and didn't realize what the hell the honor bar was for lol. On that note though, the game seems to heavily favor ranged builds. I would be so annoyed having to go through that trial as a melee class.

After 8 hours I finally realized that even though support gems are only listed for certain skills, you can select them and move them to a different skill

Have you been using your orbs to upgrade normal/rare gear

I haven't. I have a bunch taking up space. Afraid to use them and screw something up.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
The trials for ascending are a huge pain in the ass, and the second and beyond are absurdly, absurdly overtuned. I didn't do the second trial (Chaos) until I was 12 levels over the zone level, FWIW. Try not to feel discouraged if you struggle when you get there - just come back. It's not that it's hard. It's random, insane RNG bull and stupid boss mechanics (a one-shotting, screenwide effect). It will absolutely be nerfed in time.
Re: support gems, some of the suggestions aren't all that helpful, either. So yes, it's definitely worth looking through the full list.

Oh the tabs are just suggestions? I thought you could only get certain support gems by choosing certain skills

Won’t screw anything up. They are there to be used

Oh I thought that's what you were getting at - must have misunderstood. They can't all be used for all skills, but you don't have to use their suggested supports. E.g. faster casting (called acceleration, or momentum, or whatever in POE2) is not a suggested support for arc, but it absolutely works - as does many others.
It was surprisingly easier in POE1 to identify which supports worked for which skills gems, but I haven't found a good reference in 2. Kinda just need to read the gem carefully, engrave, and hope it sockets.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
With PoE2 being down briefly and me not realizing I had to manually update the game in the Xbox menu I played a bit of Indiana Jones. My early impression is if you give yourself over to YOU'RE INDIANA JONES and ignore the lame gamification of literally everything you do (insert key, press left to turn key) it's a very charming experience.
I'm a couple hours in and I've bonked so many dudes over the head with sticks, crowbars, and billy-clubs. Must be in the 20s by now. They're all named Fascist 1 and Fascist 2 in the subtitles.

No ticket.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
Range feels so much easier than melee in POE2.
Maybe I just suck, but it feels way easier to move and cast/shoot than to move a swing a staff

I will lose it if we get a version of that in this game. There's already been a small handful of things that don't make a ton of sense in the game but make me do the Dicaprio pointing gif when I spot 'em.

I was just totally confused. Seems to me the “All Gems” tab should be at the top.
