Can anyone make an argument that Sullinger cannot become Zach Randolph?

Except Ellis can't play PG and likely has no interest in extending here.

You might be right. Either would be fine with me. I think Udoh has more basketball sense and offensive potential. Ibaka is a force on D, but his 12 foot jumpers were keeping he team in games.

Yeah, even if the Bucks wanted to extend Ellis I'd be surprised if he wanted to stay in Milwaukee. He may have one foot out the door already.

Snack Randolph is a far better athlete than Sullinger. He also does everything Sullinger can do, except at a much higher level.

Waiters won't become the next Wade, but he's been the guy for awhile now that i hoped would manage to slide to 12 and Hammond actually drafted the kid. By most everything i've read, Waiters will be gone before 12, but if he does end up slipping and goes 12th or 13th, man i'll be feeling like this towards Stuttering John.

If we got rid of Gooden and resigned Ersan, I'd feel pretty good about our defensive bigs rotation then. Between Ersan, Dalembert, Udoh and Sanders we'd have four guys with length and three guys who can fly swat. Frankly, I don't think we'd miss the 2012 version of Bogut at all under that scenario.

But as noted above, if we still have Gooden playing major minutes, and-or lose Ersan, a lot falls apart there.

There's a few reasons why Monta Ellis has never been a full time point guard in the NBA, highest on the list is that he isn't a point guard.

Randolph is much quicker than him. Sullinger is very slow and deliberate in his post moves while Randolph is a quick wrist shooter. He's also much more athletic than Sully. I wouldn't draft Sully hoping he turns out to be Zeke as he's likely to be Gooden.

Yep. Add a wing, re-sign Ilyasova, with Gooden getting minimal minutes, and I like this team. If Gooden is starting at PF it makes adding Dalembert pretty worthless.

Look I hate Drew Gooden like the next guy, but you guys realize that if Sullinger turned out to be Drew Gooden, it'd be pretty average. Hell, if he could stay in the league as long as Gooden you could even consider it above average.

Last 10 years' #14 picks:

2011 Marcus Morris, Kansas – Houston Rockets
2010 Patrick Patterson, Kentucky – Houston Rockets
2009 Earl Clark, Louisville – Phoenix Suns
2008 Anthony Randolph, LSU – Golden State Warriors
2007 Al Thornton, Florida State – L.A. Clippers
2006 Ronnie Brewer, Arkansas – Utah Jazz
2005 Rashad McCants, North Carolina – Minnesota Timberwolves
2004 Kris Humphries, Minnesota – Utah Jazz
2003 Luke Ridnour, Oregon – Seattle Supersonics
2002 Fred Jones, Oregon – Indiana Pacers

Drew Gooden is no worse than anyone on this list. Again, at least he's still in the league. I think you guys tend to severely overrate draft picks. #14 is a gamble. Don't plan on getting a star and don't bash Hammond if guy's playing in Europe in 5 years.

I think it's funny to say somebody's not as athletic is Zach Randolph, he's more like Drew Gooden. Gooden is 10x the athlete Randolph is.

To get behind this team fully (even to fight or 8th seed) I'd need to see Gooden getting backup minutes and Monta being traded. Unless both of those happen I'd honestly be hoping for loses from day 1.

You're probably right, but if we keep him as a 2 we are beyond dumb. In Curry's absence he demonstrated that he can play top 15 (at worst) PG

Considering the wiretap says the Bucks are trying to extend Ellis, you might as well give up on that one.

Ellis won't be traded is my guess, but my guess is that he also bolts Milwaukee first chance he gets (so next summer).

I wouldn't get married to the idea of Ellis being here long-term. Just because the Bucks say publicly they are going to discuss an extension with Ellis that means nothing. They could still be shopping him or seeing what his trade value might be. Telling people you're going to extend him gives him the perception of value. You wouldn't want to undercut that by saying you have no intention of wanting him around long-term.

hahahhaaa, Noone is comparing the Bucks to the Thunder.. I'm talking format here; the Bucks clearly are lacking sufficient talent and size at the wing spots to even be considered relevant.

I think he'll be traded eventually, but it will be for pennies on the dollar at the deadline because he'll express that he won't resign.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
