Honest question. What could the cavs have done today that would have made them feel any better about their situation if bron walks this summer?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Catching up on the deadline and remembering there were a couple of dudes willing to trade Jabari for Rodney Hood.

I can't really comprehend what the Cleveland lineup looks like. Is this it?

G- George Hill
G- Jordan Clarkson
C - Tristan Thompson (Kevin Love when he returns)
PF - LeBron
SF - Rodney Hood

Bench
-JR Smith
-Larry Nance, Jr
-Kyle Korver
-Jeff Green

That's still some really weak sauce IMO. One of Hood, Clarkson or Hill has to emerge big time and play well above their career norm for this to work.

Donovan Mitchell has completely taken his role for the future and he is a RFA after this season. Crowder lost his mom this offseason and was pretty awful initially but has been better of late and was never a good fit in Cle. That is still a GREAT contract, even if Cle never figured out how to use him. And Rose got waived already. Might be out of the league.

Its LeBron and 4 shooters when KLove gets back. That's a fine recipe for success. They are younger and a bunch of guys playing for contracts too. Can't imagine they will be the worst defense in the league.

Hill/Clarkson/Calderon
Clarkson/JR/Hood
Hood/LeBron/Korver/JGreen/Cedi
LeBron/Love/Nance/Cedi
Love/TT/Nance

I think it looks better than it did coming into the day. More athleticism, more shooting. But they are going to have to gel FAST. Playoffs will be here in a flash and they are going to have a tough path.

My guess would be:

Hill
Hood
Bron
Nance
TT

6th man-Clarkson

LeBron hasn’t had teammates this explosive in years. Definitely a vastly improved team.

This appears to be much better than what they've been trotting out there.

Id take the bucks at 50/1 over those other odds. Especially Cleveland

Guys I missed the last hours of the trade deadline but ... just finished reading all 34 pages on this thread. That was real fun. Good posts overall, you got me into the "trade war room" ...

We didn't make a move ... I believe Delly's injury messed up the Mudiay,Faried trade ... anyway as expected Zeller was our last trade.

Now for the Cavs ... they made good moves. The only weird part is that they gave up their 1st to take on Clarkson... But they got some nice players with motivation to play on a winning team, more athletic and less egos ... If Cavs had a really good coach ... we would be in real trouble ... right now, with Lue ... I simply don't know ... Don't be surprised if they mix well and take over the East, cause Hill, Hood, Love will give 100% every night and they are coachable...

Yes, as someone said ... just consider the Bledsoe trade as our "deadline trade" .

I really hate the fact that Boston got Monroe, they got better too.

I am satisfied. Although a little worried about our multiyear contracts ..

Papagiannis is fine for us. Get him Horst... Just upgrade Terry to assistant coach to free up a roster spot, or give him a 10 day contract or a 2 way contract... he still has potential, yes he is slow but the NBA has still alot of Dinosaurs playing ... he is way better than Plumlee ... get him, Giannis needs to speak some Greek with a guy too...

I'll believe the Raptors are a threat to win the East when I see it.

It’s protected though. Honestly, we’re they going to draft someone better than Nance with that pick? Probably not. I think they made some really smart moves today. If/when Bron leaves they can sell Love and start over with a Hood/Nance/Brooklyn1st/LoveTrade roster. Buyout JR and start anew. Much better than the jumble of trash they had previously.

I would have like to see the Bucks take a flier on Mudiay. Not sure if it was possible for us to get a deal done with Denver or not.

My guess is:

Hill
JR
Hood
Bron
Love

Clarkson/Korver/Green/Nance/TT bench unit

And I wouldn't be surprised if they stagger Hill & Bron by subbing in Korver early so that Clarkson isn't responsible for point guard duties too much.

I don't think the Cavs got much better. They're still a really, really, really bad defensive team and Jordan Clarkson sucks.

Yea but consider who they parted with. At least these new guys are young and more athletic. If playing with a recharged LeBron can get them to try, they might easily improve.

I feel for IT. He was basically used as a 6M expiring and goes to a rebuilding team with a franchise PG. But he has been BRUTAL. I tried to explain how awful his injury was (I had it, I ended up with a fake hip); there is no reason to have confidence he will ever be an NBA player again, much less an elite one.

I don't know who leads that Cavs team when LeBron is out/needs a breather.

Cavs are something like a +4 team on the season when IT and Rose were not playing . Hood and Nance should boost that number. Reckon Cavs beat Boston in the East and we lose in the second round along with Toronto

Papagiannis was waived. At least we were not the only ones who messed with our pick (Thon).

I don't think Papa is an nba player but he is legit 7'1 and legit 20 years old, maybe we could try to develop him

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
