They were talking about him like he has star potential on both sides of the court. I hope they are right, but what are the consequences if they are wrong?

no consequences at all.
24th pick, has like a 15% chance of being a bench rotation player.
or something like that.

plus, hes 3rd on the depth chart,
until he proves otherwise.
and, Bud doesnt usually play rooks much.

allen/wes/marjon
midds/pat/nwora
whichever order or spot u wanna put guys, marjon is 5th wing guy.
battling it out with nwora for mins. if any are available

There are consequences for everything. That's life. :-?
In this case, if they are wrong about MJB being a future star, then the team won't end up being as good as if they are right.

The real question:

How to pronounce his last name?

Beauchamp = "Bow--shAHmp"

If he becomes a solid, reliable rotational piece akin to Mykal Bridges (a comp he made himself) the pick is an absolute grand-slam and will help extend the primes of both Jrue and Khris (and align beautifully with Prime Gianni). If he becomes a reliable bench-roleplayer akin to, say, Derrick White (who has his flaws but is good) the pick is still a home-run hit if he's a 6th-7th guy who can play meaningful playoff minutes (especially crunch-time) and produce.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

I’ll cut right to it, when he has a good game it will be pronounced ‘champ’. When anyone that doesn’t like the pick and he has a bad game, it will be pronounced ‘chump’ with the idea that is original and not something he has probably heard his whole life.

Oh man, I will give you credit because that is probably a fresh take. What’s your final thoughts on him and would he have been your pick at that spot?

Can we stop with this? It's nonsense. Bud doesn't play young guys who have no business being in a rotation. That's different.

DDV played as a rookie in Bud's first season. We had no rookies in the 19-20 campaign. Then we had Nwora (woof, 45th), Merrill (out of league, 60th), and then Mamu (58th). This Bud hates rookies and young guys is one of the most nonsensical narratives here. The only other rookie that he's really had throughout his head coaching tenure that was worth anything was John Collins and he was firmly part of Bud's rotation.

Here's the reality, rookies don't often play on contenders because contenders don't draft high. They get the scraps. We evolved as a franchise and put ourselves into a different echelon. It's time to acknowledge the 'why' instead of continually pushing false narratives.

There's a nickname lying in wait here somewhere.

Margin of Marjon, no. (He comes to restore balance in deer district.)

May 120 over 104 be with you, for giving us the pun.

What I found fascinating though is it sounded like Rich Paul knew MarJon would be there for us several spots early and we stopped trying to move up when he told us.

I honestly didn’t look at him predraft but I’m fine with where we took him. Couple of guys I was intrigued with but nobody that I’m upset that we didn’t take. I like his size, length, handles combo and his defense. He plays bigger than he is if that makes sense. If his pull up jumper is pure and he can hit a reasonable % from 3 then I like him. If he can play make then I love him. Feel like he’s behind the curve in his feel for the game but I can understand why. Hopefully they don’t try to do too much with him at summer league, let him hone the things he’s good at then worry about working on holes in his game. I think he will be alright with some patience. Hope he sits next to Jingles on the bench and listens

Schroder? Not blaming Bud there since he hasn’t worked out anywhere else but he got playing time

rest of my post is still true.
usually i said.
there was no narrative pushed.
u took 1 part and wrote a whole thing, cause u saw other posts that went 2x deeper with Bud and rooks, than my little half line.
then didnt acknowledge the rest of my post.

I can’t recall if I ever shared this story on the board but I got an invite to the Bucks draft party years ago and watched the draft with Jim Paschke. We were talking and the two players our conversation centered around were Thon Maker and Malcolm Brogdon. Of all the things we ended up drafting those two specific players. I’ve had an inkling the real draft is done behind the scenes and simply announced in public. It was just way too specific we ended up drafting exactly those two guys, it was like he already knew.

Blake Wesley is possibly a very interesting player.
