Yeah that's interesting. They would take Ayton at the vets minimum. Where else would Brook go?

He was always going to the Warriors. They have a $8.7 million TPE, and regularly do sign and trade deals, and they've had a interest in him for awhile

How do the Warriors get under the first apron to be allowed to receive a sign and trade player?

Ayton's getting more than the minimum, right? So many small teams will take a gamble. Pacers might turn him into Shaq.

Some of these buyouts end up with offsets right or am I making that up?

Off-season buyouts can be signed by teams over the tax. Ayton will certainly be getting more than the minimum especially with how limited centers are. He still averaged a double double.

It really seems like the Bucks went to Bobby and said “this is the amount we can give you which also allows us to be able to use the full MLE and BAE to make the team better. It’s more than anyone can outright pay you besides the Pistons and Nets.”

Bobby wanted to stick around so even though to us it’s only appears to be a few hundred K more than the MLE, I think it was a gesture by the Bucks to give him the most they could while keeping the full MLE and BAE available.

Isnt it basically the mid level?

its 500k more lol

No it's not. The average is more, but the 1st year salary is actually below the MLE.

They start the offseason $25 million below the 1st apron.

What might a Lopez / GSW S&T look like? A double S&T (ie with Looney) isn’t allowed right?

I wouldn’t be interested in Looney. He’s a plodder who has struggled with injuries. Sign me up for a double sign and trade with GPII. We need more on-ball defenders and he also fills the gapping hole at PG

Frank Nova wrote:Bringing Brook back just feels like a bad idea honestly. He’s not coming back for a vet minimum and the way he would need to be used next season is a vet minimum. I just don’t see the point in even being tempted to make Docs job anymore difficult by gift wrapping him someone he has to use his brain to figure out what’s best for the team. I also don’t see Brook being useful enough moving forward to justify paying him any type of money that could turn into a more usable and flexible asset. I still say not trading him at the deadline was a huge miss. Even having an extra 2nd round pick last Thursday night and a direction with a little more flexibility now was such a great idea 4 months ago.

He’s a great Buck and it was fun for a good while but business is business and Brook is headed towards Hakeem Olajuwon on the Raptors status and there’s no money in that.

Not trading him 3 years ago when he still had value but anyone who watched the games saw he was already unplayable in the playoffs at that point. Horst is at best a C+ GM so many mistakes holding onto guys way way too long.

Also Ayton & Wiggins are the literal opposite of what we should be going after. Low BBIQ lazy players, I thought we were trying to win games? I'd rather play any young guy over those 2 turds.

Looney isn't a plodder. He's a good defender who is very switchable.

And talk about struggling with injuries. In the last three years, GPIII has played in 22, 44 and 62 games. Looney has played in 82, 74 and 76. You mixed the two players up.

Can someone confirm this is a legal trade.

Pat 9.4 mil/up to 7.2 million in cash.

Nets trade TPE/Protected second that never conveys.

Bucks get much needed breathing room against the tax line.

Nets get help getting to the salary floor at very little cost. Pat might also take a buyout since he should be able get a vet min deal somewhere.

if that report about DLO getting 6M per from the Mavs is true... KPJ isn't worth much more than that.

This is actually pretty clever although I think they would want one of our young guys as well, maybe Ajax

If we brought Ayton in, we better bring back Thanasis. He’s the best motivator on the team.

And this
The #Bucks and Gary Trent Jr. are expected to agree to a 3-year deal with an AVV between $8-10 million shortly after free agency begins tomorrow.
