What I've learned about the perception of todays trade.

On a scale from 1-10:

Getting Redick = 5
Losing Tobias = 5
Getting Ayon/Ish = 0
Keeping Ellis = -10

Push, there are no winners here.

New ownership remains the only shining light unfortunately.

Maybe one of these days, the Bucks might be one of the teams NOT involved in deadline rumors/deals.

This outrage is getting a bit ridiculous. You guys act like we traded the second coming of Scottie Pippen.

Agreed. The echo chamber of negativity here on this, and just about everything else, is absurd and unwarranted. Most of this board has turned into a contest to see who can be the most offensive pessimist.

We traded three players who have no real NBA future for someone who can at least help us now. We have no idea, none at all, what has been going on behind the scenes, who was available, and at what price.

I liked Tobias but its not really that big of a deal losing him. I'd feel different if we gave up Henson or even Ersan. Not sure why people are dogging Hammond on this at all though. People were going to be angry regardless of what he did aside from trading for a legit All Star.

How can you say we already clinched the 8th seed before this trade?

Have you watched the Raptors play lately? They are only 5 games back from us, while Philly is 4.

Any move we wouldve made there would be people outraged. Doesnt matter what it is, but theres got to be something to complain about at all times here.

I don't mind the trade.

Losing Harris is the only thing that could turn out to be bad, but it's obvious he's at least 1 to 2 more seasons away being in a rotation on a playoff team.

Adding Redick could be a Salmons-like steal to help us gain some momentum heading into the playoffs. I wouldn't mind facing New York in the 1st round.

I think we improved our team significantly. If this is the type of player JJ Redick can be moving forward, I wouldn't mind him on this team for the next few years, either.

Dunleavy
Monta
Jennings
Pryzbilla
Udrih

We traded Udrih. That's it.

As a Blazers fan I note that 4 of the 5 nonstarters you wish traded for the Bucks would be the Blazers' top reserves, heads and shoulders above what they now have on the bench. On the other hand, I don't think the two starters you want trade would crack into the Blazers' starting lineup. The construction of basketball squads is such a mysterious craft, isn't it?

I can't believe people think that Redick makes us a better team. Your just setting yourself up for a let down. You should know better. The Bucks are stuck in the mud spinning thier tires. :D

As usual, the real issue is not the value of the assets exchanged (unless you think Harris had great potential, a point on which reasonable people can agree to disagree) but rather the lack of direction. If you're making win-now moves and you have all these assets, ffs do better than just JJ Redick. Otherwise keep your youth and see what they can do for you.

I read that Hammond quote just now as well. I was fine with him building up Jennings and Monta in order to trade them. But now post trade deadline, he's just trolling us or more likely, Herb Kohl and some in that front office actually believe it.

The silver lining that I got is with Ilyasova and Henson here, Harris wasn't playing the 4 and with is defensive inability, he wasn't going to play the 3. I like Harris as a prospect and thought we could get more for him, but this might open up the door for the Bucks to Draft GRIII.

If you rate on a 0-10 scale the traded players as actual contributors to an NBA team, for me Redick gets an 8; Ayon a 6; I haven't the slightest idea regarding smith; Beno U gets a 6; Harris a 4 and Lamb a 1. Seems to me on the basis of contributory value the Bucks did well on the trade, and as Keynes said" in the long run we are all dead."

Had a night to sleep on it. Still hate the trade. But more specifically, the overall thought process at the deadline.

The FO had no plans to trade Monta Ellis. None. They look at him as part of the core and part of the reason our series with Miami will go to 5 games. He probably wasn't even "available."

Dalembert probably could have netted a late 1st rounder. But I bet he, too, was unavailable. Ya know, for the big playoff push.

We wasted Udrih's valuable expiring to bring in JJ Redick. You're telling me there wasn't any other needle pushing move to be had?

I still wonder if the Udoh, Udrih, Mbah a Moute, protected 1st for Josh Smith package could have been sweetened a bit to land a real difference maker. I'd still love to get some inside info on that exchange.

The reason I hate the Redick trade is because I fear the Bucks will make Redick their long term starting SG. The thought of that disgusts me. And now what do I root for? If the Bucks have a nice second half of the season and make a little noise in the playoffs, I fear the front office will feel as though that whole 7th/8th seed thing is working well, and will resign Redick. If the Bucks fall apart, I'll have to suffer through miserable basketball the rest of the season, but Redick probably won't be resigned. Ugh. I hate being a fan of this team.

Ish will be interesting, finally a young PG behind Baddy. Out of the 3, Ish is the one I am most excited about.

It does make the Bucks worth watching the rest of the season. Redick helps space the floor - certainly better than Ellis - and should make things easier for Jennings to penetrate and for other players to operate inside. And aside from Miami, the East is really bad this season, so if they can avoid playing Miami in the 1st round, they could make it interesting in the 1st round.

Is it a great trade? Not even close. But it makes the team interesting for the rest of the season. And maybe they get lucky with Ayon and he somehow offsets the loss of 2 solid young prospects. And it makes it less likely that they re-sign Ellis - which I regard as a positive (not signing him, that is). And they can still do a sign and trade (or 2) in the offseason.
