I have it, it’s what I went with after a trial of it and PS Vue at the same time. I like it a lot, my only complaints are things that really aren’t that big is a deal. Some of the stuff I record I can’t fast forward through commercials on which I thought would annoy me more than it has - it’s like they give me an on demand version. Some of the networks aren’t 1080p, I have the WS on right now and it’s only 720p (I think this is a network thing, not a YouTube thing) but on my tv it looks just like my 1080p Charter. It’s cool being able to watch tv a lot like Netflix or Prime... I’ve been watching stuff on my tv, started getting a little tired and finished watching in bed on my iPad. I’d recommend at least signing up for the trial some weekend when you’ll put it to use on a mix of content/channels. The on demand content is pretty solid with the movies you can watch too - I use it a lot more than I did with Charter. Maybe it’s but better, but it presents content in a way that makes me use it more.

Not being able to skip commercials on stuff I've recorded would piss me off
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

That is weird. I don't think I've seen that before. They have an option to pick the VOD or the DVR version of stuff you record. Also if you add the show to your library, it will add all the VODs first then add DVR versions when they become available.

Here's an example from my library:

I literally just signed up for Vue a week ago to try it out and was planning on calling DTV to cancel everything. I've been with DTV for 10 years. The main reason for staying is functionality, my man cave set up is a 3 tv set up on one wall. My AV guy has it set up so I can easily rotate the tv's if I want to quickly switch a game to the main tv. He said going to a streaming service will be a bit more of a challenge to maintain the functionality. The other reason was NFL Sunday Ticket. However the local games and the Red Zone Channel is good enough.

Now I can't find a service that provides NFL network and NBA, and local.

Any recommendations?

The other option is to just call DTV and cancel and see what their retention department comes up with for a price. I hate doing that though, I've never played that game and from a business perspective, I would feel like a hypocrite if I truly did it with no intention of canceling.

There are only a handful of channels on YTTV that force you into the VOD versions which have commercials. I think CBS and some of their properties are among them. ( I don't know because I never watch those channels.)

On one of the other topics brought up: As far as the picture quality variation, as I understand it, the reason we sometimes get 720 instead of 1080 is because that's the way it's being aired on the original channel, and YTTV just sends what they get along. The picture quality is almost always great.

For what it is, I love YTTV. I really only use it for basketball, and pause the channel for the months of the offseason. Pause is a great feature which saves all your settings while you suspend service. I think I paused nearly 5 months this year.

The one complaint I have has nothing to do with YTTV itself, but in the whole cabal run system. YTTV is excellent, but it's a mini-me of cable in that you don't choose your channels. You get a big package of channels and watch a tiny percentage of them. That means we pay for channels we don't watch and even have to financially support channels we really don't want to give money to.

The YTTV cloud DVR is fantastic. I've got it set to record all 30 teams, so every aired game is recorded, and there's no limit other than the 9 month expiration date. It's different than a regular DVR, but once you get used to it, it's better.

The user interface is top-notch. (I'm on a Roku Ultra.) Their guide is customizable. You can arrange and hide channels.

Local PBS will begin to roll out starting next week. That is a good addition for me, and one channel I will use.

Interesting, thanks. I could be doing something wrong. On the app on my tv, I haven't seen the option to pick from different versions of a recording - it's just there in my library for me to play. I do watch a couple of things on CBS, which could be the issue too as Gant mentioned.

Pretty much everything Gant wrote. I have been a fan YTTV since switching over when it first became available in Madison and love it. Dropping DTV felt really good. The downside is the lack of NFL Network and PBS, but the latter is now being added.

Dumb question as I cannot seem to find the actual answer through youtubetv - if I share my account with my parents in florida and bill it from my address in Wisconsin, will they be able to watch Fox Sports Wi and the Bucks?

No it's geolocated. An interesting fact about that is that is only seems to check your location every so often so if you are on vacation there is a chance you still can get local channels. You can also force it to check your location. They do have family logins for this so you get your own accounts.

I too am thinking of cutting the cord.

I have youtube and Philo to get all the stations I need. For example very few streaming services have MotorTrend, History, Hallmark and things like that. This combo gives me all I need. Philo is just being tested now so I have limited experience with it.

YouTube. Most of the content is 720P. Some, like Fox Sports is 1080P. This is true with most streaming services.

Sound. Little if any surround sound on any of the streaming options. Netflix supports 5.1 as does A&T Now I believe.

Fast forwarding through commercials still works but with On demand you cannot I believe.

I still have Dish and find the sound issue to be the biggest.

Thanks. Also, that sucks. One less reason for me to get TV again. $50 a month just to watch the Bucks isn't worth it for me.

Are you sure? I am sharing with my in-laws right now until we move in January, and I am getting FS North and Minnesota sports while living in Madison (they live in Rochester, MN).

Just went through all of this 3 weeks ago. I cancelled DTV 2 days after my cycle, they would not pro-rate, I had to pay for a whole extra month, I hate them. after I told them i was cancelling they looked at their deals and the best they could come up with is a $10 discount a month, i just laughed.

I went to Youtube TV, only missing a few channels I sometimes watched, comedy central being one, but I will be saving $125.00 per month. Youtube TV has NBA, MLB, Golf (also all major/minor sports channel including ACC network) but currently do not have the NFL network. I have 2 TV's, one comes with Roku the other I have an Amazon firestick in, i can get the NFL network ap on both, but you will need to "borrow" someones sign in information who has cable or a dish. College kids do this stuff all the time, share passwords, I have a couple of friends who gave me their sign in information.

My biggest concern going in revolved around lag time between channels because I am a channel surfer. There is basically a 3 second lag time, no issues at all, plus 2 clicks of the down arrow on your remote takes you to the previous channels you viewed, I can have 5 different college football games on the ribbon and easily navigate between all of them. I am 1 month in and absolutely love it.

I looked at some posts on reddit and it looks like local channels are geolocked but RSNs are determined by the account holders city so you are right.

Obviously Apple can use + as a loss leader but I'll be interested to see how it does with so little content.

AT&T is selling the 32 GB Apple TV 4K for 50% off. It comes with a year's subscription to Apple TV+. I picked up two. Since it's compatible with Dual Shock 4 controllers I'm looking forward to giving the Apple Arcade a spin. I've heard it's great.

ETA: There's rumors of a new Apple TV coming out, presumably with a better processor. So this could be a clearance sale.

Yep, hence I am here. After trying everything out, we landed on Vue and really worked well for the entire family and now, ****, need a plan B. Loved Hulu for a lot of reasons, but not interested in something that doesn't have a NFL Redzone option, it is literally my favor thing in Winter.

Anyone using Fubo? Seems like a pretty good fit, wondering if I can do a standard package and then the 11 sports upgrade to get Redzone?

Given how much you love Red Zone this is probably a non-starter, but if you can live without it finding streams has never been easier. That said, I still pay for Hulu+ because I want the Bucks and Brewers and Packers and Badgers on the big screen so if you need that for Red Zone, I get it.
