Going to the the game tonight. I'll be doing some scouting on Brandon Jennings for everyone. Not sure anything will change from what everyone else has seen but I am going to the game anyway.

He’s shooting 30% from the field in the GLeague lol. Never change Brandon.

The Bucks traded DJ Wilson to the Herd today for Brandon Jennings! I don't know who got the better end of that deal.

There are no winners here.

So went to the game. They got blown out. Wilson looked lost out there, never going to be an NBA player. Plumlee, Mumford looked ok. All the rest were garbage.

So every time I watch highlights I see Wilson do some good things and show more skills than I thought he had. Our new owners really need to develop some personality transplant technology. Could start to really get something out of a couple of these guys.
I also think we can safely say that the facial research technology they bought was a massive flop, or somewhere the cameras are pointing upside down, which would actually explain the last couple of draft picks.

Don't be fooled by highlight reels or mix tapes.

Re: Wisconsin Herd Thread
Happy to see that the team did so well attendance-wise in its first season. I saw that the team was pretty good at getting players involved with community outreach, though I'd guess the number of fans were a function of the novelty of a new team.
Hopefully they can follow-up next year with a stronger end-to-end season and keep giving fans a reason to go. I could see them continuing to have pretty high attendance if the atmosphere at games is exciting and going is a relatively cheap proposition.

It will be interesting to see how they draw in year 2 when the new team smell isn't there.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

IMO
Really depended on how the bucks use them. If they have 2-3 2nd rounders from prior year down there, it’s an amazing deal. $4 mixed cocktails and no bad seats. Otherwise it’s a waste of money if you are watching guys with no nba talent.

I think it'll be interesting to see the level of talent the G-League can bring in if the NBA goes all-in on poaching high school talent and increasing the compensation for all players more generally. Two-way contracts will also have to be ironed out a bit more as this past season was their Wild West era.
Part of utilizing the Herd will also probably come down to who is hired as coach in MKE (though I could be wrong). If a new hire is very development-minded but leery in throwing new guys out there during a win-now season they may feel more comfortable with encouraging management to send some end-of-the-bench types to Oshkosh.

G League draft today, at noon I think.
Pretty much know the roster after today... The draft is just a primer for all the transactions that'll go down.

Re: Wisconsin Herd Thread
The recent news ($125K slots available for select HS prospects) has me thinking back to the Herd’s inaugural grazing of the G-league pasture. As the league continues to become more relevant to NBA happenings, operations in Oshkosh will provide an interesting window into how the Bucks are being run. Three of Bud’s assistants (Ham, Jenkins and Longstaff) have been head coaches in the G-league. Bud was reportedly ecstatic when the Hawks finally got control of their own squad. It’ll be interesting to see how things differ under Bud & his development savvy staff compared to a year ago under Horst & GM Dave Dean.
Last summer the Herd arrived simultaneously with the new “Exhibit 10” and 2-way contracts that allowed parent clubs more control in team building than ever before. Here’s what went down
2-Ways: Bronson Koenig, Jalen Moore, Joel Bolomboy, Gary Payton II, Sean Kilpatrick, Xavier Munford, Marshall Plumlee
Exhibit 10’s: Xavier Munford, James Young, Ja’Quan Lewis,
Koenig & Moore were released before training camp even started. Moore stepped away from the game to deal with anxiety (though he wasn’t qualified for a spot to begin with) & Koenig is playing in Montenegro after an uninspiring rookie G-League season that saw him dumped by both the Bucks & the Bulls. Don’t see either ever sniffing the NBA. Horst & Dean claimed a mulligan on this one.
Ja’Quan Lewis was targeted and signed early in the summer of 17 with an exhibit 10. He’s a defensive minded role player without NBA potential who couldn’t get off the summer league bench after his debut season with the Herd. Solid minor league guy, zero NBA prospects.
Munford & Young proved to be bigtime Exhibit 10 wins in they they helped the Herd get off to one of the hottest stars in the league & earned 2-way call ups, reflecting well on the organization. Unfortunately neither were able to prove their NBA caliber & Munford’s call up seemed like more of a reward for his Herd play than an indication the Bucks saw a future with him. Young will be back in Oshkosh this year. Munford was really good with Jeff Van Gundy’s USA squads & there’s a world where he’s a poor man’s Lou Williams in a perfect situation, but it’s a long-shot. Fringe NBA guys at best.
Gary Payton II being squeezed into a 2-way after being cut in training camp reeks of Kidd’s nepotism winning out. He played 3 games with the Herd & later found himself on the one of the Lakers 2-ways. He just was in camp with the Blazers & is currently out of the league. Not an NBA player, not a good use of the 2-way.
Joel Bolomboy was one of the best bigs in the league and (to me) looked really solid during his limited opportunities with the Bucks. He’s extended his range & plays hard as hell. Bolomboy signed with CSKA Moscow, one of the top three Euroleague teams. I think this should be considered a win for the Bucks/Herd. He developed in Oshkosh, helped the team & furthered his career. Could definitely see him back in the NBA as a rotation big.
Horst sort of circumvented the intent of the 2-way when they signed Sean Kilpatrick, who never set foot in Oshkosh and eventually had his deal converted to a regular minimum. I’ve long been a Kilpatrick admirer, but he didn’t shoot well in 23 games before getting cut. He’s currently out of the league. Interesting that they basically used a loophole to bring in a veteran they thought could provide immediate help, but it obviously didn’t work out.
Marshall Plumlee gave the Bucks/Herd some impactful physicality but he couldn’t stick & is currently back in the G-league. Could see him windup up on another roster but the upside was always limited.
The Bucks & Herd made much ado about Brandon Jennings joining the Herd. It was pretty apparent during his short stint in Oshkosh that he was washed as an NBA player but that didn’t stop the Bucks from calling him up. Helped us win a couple of games against G-caliber NBA opponents but failed to make any kind of meaningful impact. He's now in Russia.
Other notables-
Cliff Alexander- Fun to watch dunk on dudes. Ceiling is probably really good Euro big & long shot NBA player.
Cam Oliver- Recent camp with the Blazers. Likely fits into the same category as Alexander.
James Blackmon Jr & Ricky Ledo- Both signed in Italy, unlikely to ever see the NBA.
If there’s one theme from season one it’s that guys with very low NBA ceilings were repeatedly targeted. Tomorrow (if you’re lucky) I’ll discuss how that may change as I preview the Herd’s upcoming second season.

To start the year it's all about Duval for me; he's like the Bucks 2nd round pick to me.... It sucks he's been dealing with that eye infection, it ruined camp for him.
He's a complete prospect, except for the jump shot, which was better late last year.
