Back from vacation and getting caught up on all of the things.

POE2 looks incredible, but not sure how excited I actually am about it as a fan of POE(1). Granted we don't have enough info about it yet still and I'll reserve judgment until I play, but I think the direction they're taking it is veering away from a lot of the things I like about POE(1).

With that said, it's maybe great they're treating POE2 as a second game now - as long as they really do continue to fully support POE(1) and don't just bastardize the leagues. I'm sure that'll happen in due time, but if they keep a core player base in the original then maybe they continue to give it attention. I dunno.

Still a long way out yet. Not sure how I feel about next league, but that won't matter much considering I'll be playing BG3. I am SUPER pumped Sanctum is going core, though, so I'll surely jump into the league at some point just to experience that again. Hopefully it's not too rare, and I hope it's on the atlas passive tree too.

ReasonablySober wrote:I really, really hate the mini-map in Remnant. The biomes themselves aren't what I'd consider good either. But I'm having fun because I'm very much enjoying the action. Up to level eight and I'm looking forward to making my build more interesting once I unlock more archtypes.

Maybe it’s part of the point in a fog of war kinda way, but it’s kinda hard to tell on the bigger map where there are unexplored areas vs where the map simply ends.

The annoying part with the minimap for me is that exploration isn’t shared so if my friend and I split up at a fork in the road, the map only shows that I explored the part that I personally explored so we end up in a lot of situations where we’re asking the other person if we checked out a given area yet.

The game is very fun though and I love the fact that the campaign doesn’t start on the same planet each time. We’re working through both of our games concurrently and it’s cool that we’re on two completely different worlds, fighting completely different bosses, etc.

Really can't say enough about how impressed I am with Remnant 2. It's the Diablo IV I wanted. Huge amount of gear, tons of abilities and build options, and a crazy amount of secrets and areas.

Can't wait to play it.

I'm basically watching water boil waiting for BG3. It's absolutely excruciating. Nothing else is interesting right now.

The good news is I own BG3 as well so I’ll play that hopefully to tide me over.

The other thing is I’m so impressed by some of these puzzles/secrets. It really encourages you to think outside the box/slow down and think about things.

I've played a bit of Remnant II with a couple of friends, and it's really hitting the spot. Squad-based Souls shooter? Hell yes. We're playing on Veteran, which, honestly might be a bit much for us geezers.

FFXIV, It's much better than current WoW, BDO, Lost Ark, New World, etc.

I don't have a ton of experience with The Old Republic or Elder Scrolls Online
FFXIV gets a lot of praise, but I haven't played it since launch.

A lot of experience with WoW, but I'm not convinced it would be overly fun as a new player.

New World had me HOOKED, but I couldn't get any friends to play it and with the amount of server merges (servers dying) it took away all the buddies I did make online over the course of about 5 merges. I really thought that was going to be a great game for a decade. To be fair, they've made a lot of improvements, but it's been months since I played.

ESO was awesome on release, but another game I haven't touched in at least 5 years.

I'm not sure this was helpful other than to point out that as an MMO lover there aren't any that have my attention or the attention of my friends currently.

All my life. Used to play MUDs as a wee lad then went to UO, EverQuest, Asheron's Call, etc. etc. For current MMOs, it really depends on what you're looking for. FFXIV does storytelling the best but I think WoW still beats it in terms of dungeons and raiding. GW2 is also pretty decent.
UO FOR LIFE!

**** GOAT MMO.

When Starfield comes out, it'll be the first PC game I've purchased in years. What's the better place to buy it - Microsoft or Steam?

What era did you play? I played Renaissance heavily as a teen. I've looked into the free clients here and there over the years, but everything is PK-centric which is not my cup of tea.

I absolutely loved that game, though.

Anyone a part of Palia closed beta? Started today, open beta August 10th. Looks interesting?

Gamepass if you want to go cheap, or steam. Always steam imo

I played 14 at launch as well and the current version is night and day from the launch version. You could start it up again and you’d probably have 600 hours of content. End game is kinda slow atm, but there’s so much to do as a new/returning player. Best MMO community ever too

I forgot about Gamepass. You can keep the game as long as you have an active subscription, right? That might be something to check out, but I'm not sure I'll game on my PC often enough to get my money's worth. Good call though guys, thanks.
