Frank Nova wrote:The frustrating thing for me is Brook Lopez still. The barometer for this team being the cup championship is total fools gold and that has nothing to do with the actual circumstances of that game. It’s because our main competition is still the Boston Celtics who are a better team than OKC when push comes to shove. And as we all know, Brook Lopez is unplayable in that series if we make it that far. So what good is all this really? We need a deep playoff run or “major changes” are coming but we did nothing to strengthen our chances against the top 3 teams in the eastern conference and Brook Lopez is a easily the biggest issue in that regard. He’s unplayable vs Boston, he can’t guard Jarrett Allen or Big Kat and we’re 0-8 on the year vs those teams. We trade Middleton for a better athlete to create a better pace but again, back to Lopez, we have the slowest moving big in the league that we’re still very dependent on. That makes absolutely zero sense.

I think the hope in that series is you go:

Giannis / Lopez during Horford minutes maybe but even that is meh.
Kuz/BP
AJJ/Green/KPJ/GTJ
AJJ/Green/KPJ/GTJ
Dame

Play whichever of the 2/4 is playing the best. Looking at that though oof lol. Will need well above average performances or injury luck to beat Celtics and possibly Cavs as well.

Lakers Kuzma has got to be the biggest Mandela effect I've read on this board. Dude was a young chucker who turned out to be like the 7th or 8th best player on their championship team and got his minutes slashed by a buyout Morris brother.

On January 18, 2021, the Cavaliers announced that Porter would either be traded or released following an outburst regarding a locker change following the Cavaliers' acquisition of Taurean Prince from the Brooklyn Nets. He was traded to the Rockets three days later, having not played a single game with the Cavaliers in the 2020–21 season.

I think i would be more excited about his numbers last year, particularly his rebounds and assists.

Ill say this though on Kuzma..

If we are feeding him in the post to let him do his thing like hes Khris or Bobby, im going to lose my mind. His usage needs to take a nosedive and we need to run offense and keep it moving.

Be disappointed but hyperbole isn't necessary

You're the Costco family of NBA trades. We get it. Boom. Boom. Boom.

The issue is, none of these guys are good at basketball lol. Much like the real life Costco guys, they’re cheap entertainment. Kevin Porter Jr. isn't a 2nd point guard. He's an inefficient chucker who doesn’t play D and who Clipper fans are very happy to be rid of. Same with Kuzma, Wizards fans are thrilled to be rid of him and calling him a third banana is laughable at best.

Maybe a lot of you guys haven’t watched these guys play a whole lot other than cherry-picking their best YouTube game highlights…but you’re going to have plenty of tape now lol. It’s never a good sign when both fan bases are excited just to be rid of these guys. “Addition by subtraction” have been the phrases I’ve seen thrown out most about these two.

Excited about Sims, though!

You could be right.. I hope you're wrong.. The best thing they can do with us is play up tempo ball, only take high % shots, and defer to our stars when they aren't resting. Actually running the play the coach call will be nice. Why would they accept that role? We offer a realistic chance at a finals run. If that carrot works we'll be very ok.

Underrated part of Kuzma's game is he's VERY good at the pick and roll the way we've been begging Giannis to do it. We saw some flashes with GA but it hasn't been consistent.. Kuzma could get enough offense off that one play for us and plus he is able to pass in the paint to other paint dudes. This is all going to be more about accepting roles and accepting the notion of not shooting inefficient shots knowing how good the guys are next to you. ANY 3 Dame shoots is better than ANY 3 Kuz shoots.. if he buys in to that we'll be happy campers. If they do the chucker b.s. we'll be mad.

I agree, but also that isn't his game. He catches more off of little curls and creative angular cuts. Also good at finding space as the screen/roll man. I agree, don't do the fade away bs here bro. I'll also be pissed if he becomes another, even worse (brook) yolo 3 guy. I'll probably say this 50 more times this year.. ANY 3 Dame takes is better than ANY 3 Brook or Kuzma takes... reason being is that Dame has that capability that if he gets locked in he'll hit 8 of his next 9 3's ... just a much higher ceiling if he gets rolling. With those 2 it's always the same or a higher chance that they'll miss 8 of their next 9 instead.. so they should just take less 3s and defer to Dame or a better catch/shoot guy.

I have been team "keep Khris, we need Khris" all the way up until anklegate this year but even I had to admit it was over.

He looked bad in two games since he returned (one a btob) and great in the others. His shooting was vintage Khris and he still could pass and rebound.

If you've gaslighted yourself into thinking he's looked "great" in every game except for two since he came back then I guess I can understand why you'd be upset with the trade.

Here's his season average, which includes those two bad games:
23 7 23.2 4.7-9.2 51.2 1.5-3.7 40.7 1.7-2.0 84.8 0.2 3.5 3.7 4.4 0.2 0.7 2.3 1.6 12.6

Shooting over 51% and almost 41% on threes, excellent assist numbers. Ya, I think he looked very good and his numbers show it.

His defense wasn't good, but I don't think he's been a plus defender for quite a while. Bottom line, in my view, he's worth more to the Bucks than Kuzma will ever be.

Kuzma can't do anything better than Khris other than run the court, which is useless in the playoffs, especially for a guy who's so inefficient shooting.

By the way, I hope i have to eat crow on Kuzma.

Not sure where Thybulle is with his injury but I would have liked to see Pat and Livingston packaged for him. Thybulle and Pat both have player options next year and Livingston is non guaranteed. Cost cutting for the Blazers and the Bucks add a possible wing defender.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

If the Bucks convert Rollins, is Sidy Cissoko worth a 2 way?

I'd argue what he brings defensively is needed more than ever.

The championship experience aspect of the trade means absolutely nothing to me personally. He's a talented player though and can be a nice pickup if we get him playing the right way.

Definitely worthy. 20-year-old wing with a nice frame and size for a wing. This roster needs more of that. And he seems to show up in his G-league assignments, which is a plus when your rookies can go down and dominate at that level. His shooting has improved as well.

i ask because that would give us two non shooters plus Kuzma on the court at the same time. doesn't seem at all like modern NBA.

btw I've got my eye on that Marjon for KPJ trade not being made official yet. The NBA transactions page seemingly has every other trade logged and that one is nowhere to be found.

Those chase down blocks and alleyoop catches are wild.. on KMs best days he couldn't do that.

Also, just the willingness to stand in the damn corner and shoot that 3 makes him invaluable to us as KM wouldn't and Kuz has always had a better catch and shoot 3 point % than off the dribble.

I have some bad news for you...he's almost certainly going to get post touches. Likely a part of why they like him.

If I'm a prospective GM candidate, I'm already getting my offseason presentation ready to show Giannis how we're gonna bring in KD and re-tool the rest of the roster. Don't ask me how the money works.
