OKC just has to hit on one of those first picks, spend the rest of them trading for players that compliment the one.

The key will being doing it quickly after they hit on the star. It's already hard to keep a superstar in OKC and is especially hard if you suck.

Problem is with what pick? Maybe they get lucky and move up from their current ninth slot to Rockets at 5 if they somehow win a few games?

Otherwise, they might have not have any top 10 picks besides their own.

Yea have to think they're going to do a lot of trading 3 picks to move up like 10 spots type of trades in the future.

An issue I've thought of for them as they've been accumulating picks is they're not a destination place at all. So when whatever star comes available, they have the treasure chest of assets to trade for him but they player won't want to sign/stay there unless they've already hit on a draft pick who's a clear star (think Giannis/Luka). If this was MIA or LA with this treasure chest they'd easily get a superstar when he comes available.

What time is the deadline over? It's not over now, is it?

Maybe they've got a second team we don't know about? Or do they just want to win the G-League every year?

The Fournier deal is kinda "meh" but at least it falls in line with the rebuild.

Orlando will continue to lose, but now they will lose with hope.

It shouldn't be that hard for ORL to find a taker for Ross.

Not sure if they are just quicker announcing now but would remember trades still 'happening' an hour after the deadline

Do the Magic keep Otto Porter Jr or buy him out?
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

Why, because they're giving up the 13th-15th pick?

Seems like a plus for Chicago to make sure this one conveys when you know it isn't going to be high.

The 23 pick is what I'm curious about. That's the big one.

Edit: I'll be surprised if they miss the playoffs. They're better than the Knicks and Hawks now.

Don't know why people keep assuming this. They're the same number of games out of the playoffs (1.5) as they are to the 7th overall pick. I guess some view Vucevic as this super impactful guy, but IMO he's a Sabonis/Julius Randle level dude. The absolute best case scenario (treadmill team? mid-40ish wins?) doesn't really warrant the risk of the absolute worst case scenario here (give up two Top-10 picks).

If it's 2 top 10 picks it stinks for Chicago. I'd put it at less than 5% it's that though. They just got a top 20-30 offensive player for nothing (this year). They're the 6 seed or better imo.

they can kick them down the road for even more picks into the next decade as well. they basically have a draft arsenal for 10-15 years with that many picks over the next 7. its a great spot to be in that they can tank for high picks of their own with all that cabbage to fill out the roster later

ATL is trying to jump into the Lowry deal as a third team. Wonder who they are after?

Not exactly news but Shams saying it's down to Miami and LA for Lowry. LA offering Schroder and KCP. Miami offering Duncan. Toronto wants Horton-Tucker or Herro included. Lowry prefers Miami between the two

This is always my cue to remind people that the Tyrone Hill for Tim Thomas deal with Philly in 1999 wasn't announced until about 8:00pm at night. The two teams had been working it at the deadline, and the league allowed it to continue while they sorted out cap, medical and structuring issues.

The deadline that day I think was 4pm CT. The Bucks got Cassell from the Nets around 3pm CT

I have no idea why Horton-Tucker has any kind of significant value.
