I really only see a catch and shoot player who could be a good on-ball defender, but I’m worried based off his mediocre free throw shooting, and generally lower volume from three that he won’t actually be an upper tier shooter, and that he may just be a Donte level shooter.

Do you think he has movement shooting or off the dribble shooting upside? Beyond that, do you think he’ll be able to finish at the rim consistently with his limited wingspan and even smaller than Donte hands?

I'll answer with this context: It's the 24th pick. The Bucks really need to find a cheap rotation player in this draft. High floor is much more important than high ceiling IMO.

That said....Great size and a good wing defender. Good, not great, shooter. He's a good transition finisher with better than average athleticism. Most importantly, I don't think he'll need to change his game one bit for the NBA. He already knows how to play off the ball, and attack a closeout. His role will be the same with the Bucks as it was for Kansas. If he can hit shots, he'll stick.

I agree with this for the most part though I wouldn’t say he has great size. He’s big enough though.

Also to the question of off the dribble shooting: I think his mechanics will work fine on pull-ups. Highly doubtful he’ll be a guy that really creates his own looks off the dribble but certainly possible he’ll be able to attack close outs and pull up if he can’t get all the way to the rim.

But ultimately, he appears primed to be an above average defender and above average shooter with good athleticism and motor.

I’d love to have a guy that can create for himself more but anyone like that available at 24 is likely available because they have much more serious flaws.

I have Beauchamp above him though, as I think he offers the same or better defensive upside and I think he could be an okay shooter with more creativity off the dribble.

Just curious why you’re not a fan of Lewis. He’s strong, has a 7’2” wingspan, good defender, great rebounder, can play in small ball lineups, developing shooter (though it’s a little slow), decent finisher around the rim.

I think he’s a prototype modern wing.

Not a single doubt in my mind hearing he skipped the cardiovascular screening. His face and build are essentially textbook Marfans characteristics.

The more i think about this, the less inclined i am to watch more videos and get attached to any of these guys. Most rookies can't come in and be playoff contributors for quite some time and we are firmly in Giannis's win-now window. Seems like it's pretty damn likely that the pick gets traded.

I really like Liddell as the small ball 5 this team has always needed but never had. P.J. was the closest thing but he was past his prime to say it politely. Liddell offers the shooting and toughness to be that guy. Sure there are others but I don't know them. I ideally want a switchable undersized 4 who can hit open threes with regular consistency. I like E.J. and I want to say Eason who won't be there.
Bucks fandom bringing me happiness still seems like a dream.

Those colors on that shot chart are messing me up. I’m so used to red being bad. I thought for a moment Liddell was absolutely terrible.

Is the thought process with Kessler that he’d replace Brook eventually? Maybe sooner than later?

I like his rim protection, but honestly haven’t seen enough of him to know if he has any shot of developing anything close to the shot Lopez has. Or the touch around the hoop.

Yes that would be the thought process from those that keep pegging him as our pick.

He shot it well from 3 in high school albeit on a limited sample size. His free throws have always been scary bad though. Like probably worse than Ben Simmons bad.

Good finisher around the rim, mainly because he’s just so damn big and moderately athletic. He can go from catch to dunk very quickly.

Is this a year where we see MKE try to acquire another pick for $? I suppose it depends on how they feel about guys like Nwora and Sandro.

I don’t think either of these plays expose anything about Kessler’s defense if we’re being fair.

We need a little more Ryan Rollins love in here, very much reminds me of CJ McCollum. Needs a little more consistency in his shot but he looks so smooth as a scorer. Can do it at all 3 levels with a nice mid range game. A creator on offense as well.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
