KD? Again people living in the past. I would be showing him how he fits next to Wemby.

I have some bad news for you...he's almost certainly going to get post touches. Likely a part of why they like him.

I doubt this. Kuzma takes as many post-ups as Jalen Brunson does (0.9) and it's never been a big part of his game. I do think they believe he's a guy they can get out and run with and positional flexibility was the goal. I just think there were way better and equally realistic options out there.

I'd argue what he brings defensively is needed more than ever.

i ask because that would give us two non shooters plus Kuzma on the court at the same time. doesn't seem at all like modern NBA.

It's Doc's vision of NBA Ball Bruv. SPAM post ups where you have zero guys who can get an entry pass in. Then take desparation 2s! Lets GO!!!!!!

i think the fact that we ended up trading for Kuzma tells us that there probably weren't.

The championship experience aspect of the trade means absolutely nothing to me personally. He's a talented player though and can be a nice pickup if we get him playing the right way.

I guess for me I have no idea what a Kuzma "playing the right way" entails and how it increases his value to this team. Even a "playing the right way" Kuzma seems to have a pretty low ceiling for us unless playing the right way entails learning skills a 29 year old hasn't really been adequate at ever.

If Giannis ever leaves I hope he ends up with Pop and Wemby so they can collectively destroy the league for a few years.

Caris LeVert being a throw-in for De'Andre Hunter tells me otherwise. We just don't have a GM creative enough to do any kind of trade that doesn't involve us dumping assets and salary.

I'm not saying it's going to be constant, but it's always been a part of his game and I have to imagine they'll want him to punish mismatches/post up when he's playing with the second unit. Washington doesn't really allow anyone to post up but the local commentators have often complained that they don't give Kuzma more touches in the post.

I just think it's a function of being out of picks also. We all know what trade led to that but you can do a lot when you can start attaching a bunch of picks to bouy your mediocre or distressed assets

He's roughly adequate pretty much across the board in my opinion. He's a versatile scorer on middling or worse efficiency; the hope is the efficiency will improve with actual talent around him/less defensive attention on him. I think that's a reasonable hope to have; he's more skilled now than he was 5 years ago when he was still on a rookie contract with the Lakers, and overrated championship experience aside, he was at least a promising young player at the time. He's generally been an active mover off the ball, which theoretically should mesh well with defenses gearing up to stop Giannis/Dame. He's legitimately good in transition/around the rim, and he's generally been an adequate defender/rebounder too.

If he cuts down on some of the dumb shots that he took in Washington (that he optimistically had to take because that team was so devoid of talent that it was often the best they could muster) and locks back in on defense, he should be a nice pickup.

He's clearly not good enough to be one of the top 2 guys on a good team, but as a #3 on a team with two very high-usage guys carrying the team? I think we could do a lot worse.

Probably just waiting for paperwork to get filed at the league office. Middleton and Johnson were both on the injury reports after being traded.
