Looks like I'll be teaching another year.
And go figure, I just got a 2nd interview with a company the day before school starts. Not sure what I'm going to do if I get offered a job.
Officially offered a job. Feel like it’s in my best interest but I am sick to my stomach thinking about telling my school/coworkers after literally the first 3 days of school.
Does anyone know how to negotiate a job offer? I was given a range by a recruiter and was offered directly in the middle of that. If I counter above the range I was told could they rescind the offer?
Don't ever feel bad for employers, and employees will understand you have to do what's best for you.
But yea, of course they can rescind the offer, for any reason. For all you know if you turn it down or counter, they'll offer the job to the next candidate that will take it. If the salary is within the range that would make you change companies, take it. It sounds like you've really wanted out. You can try and negotiate something bigger, but you also wanna weigh how much you care to go back to sending out applications for the next 3-4 months if they decide to switch to someone who'll take the job at their number.
