What if they don't pay the tax until Giannis signs an extension and Giannis doesn't sign an extension until they pay the tax? Or maybe Giannis doesn't extend until Jrue extends, but Jrue doesn't extend until Giannis extends because he doesn't want to get stuck without his superstar like in New Orleans? This is an undersold aspect of all the stuff they gave up for Jrue instead of just trading Bledsoe, #24, and maybe one of those future picks for Bogdan. The Kings got nothing for Bogdan, so you would think they would be amenable to that. Bogdan is just over 2 years younger than Jrue and would have been under contract for 4 years at roughly half the salary Jrue will inevitably command (unless he sucks this year, which would be even worse for the Bucks). You know Giannis is going to be thinking about what the long-term future holds for the Bucks, and with Jrue and Brook being among their core four, that's a problem. Jrue is a much better player than Bogdan, but the most important thing is getting Giannis to re-sign, and it's not unreasonable to think the Bucks could have given up much LESS in assets and future salary for a player who was MORE likely to persuade Giannis to stay. That Jrue trade is the gift that keeps on giving. :nonono:

Pretty damn convinced Giannis is extending very soon. What's the worry? Jackie McMullan says her sources say he's going to. If they committed to spending more after that, we'll find out.

The Bucks paid a premium for a win producing player... The sky is falling!

Is there an incentive for the owners to wait to go into the luxury at the deadline opposed to the beginning of the year?

I'm going to believe that Giannis discussion with the owners prior to free agency led the team down the path we went this off season. Convo might have been as simple as 'do whatever it takes to move Middleton from being a #2 guy, to a #3 guy and do something about our biggest playoff issues over the last two years...whatever it takes'

This team is likely a #1 seed again. Hard for me to see Giannis walking away from that. So I'm not going to worry until, well, it's time to worry.

No. It only matters what you're at when the season ends. It's why you see teams make moves around the deadline to get under the tax line.

They're giving Boston a TPE between $28 and $32.5 million depending on how the deal is structured. Wow.

Why would you do such a big intraconference favor like that? Then again, if you are foolish enough to dish out that contract for Hayward in the first place, you probably should have decision making privileges revoked.

I can’t believe that the Hornets only got two second round draft picks for handing that gift to the Celtics.

Then again, I can’t believe they are signing Gordon Hayward to that contract after finally freeing up cap space.

That should be enough to grab Kevin Love.

Could imagine a world where we were planning to get Schroder and Bogdan, at least until the Lakers beat us to Schroder, after which we decided to go all out for Holiday.

I believe that you have just unearthed what Plan A was. Schroder and Bogdan. And then when the Schroder deal didn't happen, they panicked. And the panic set off a chain reaction of stuff, with a lot of things going wrong.

The current scenario is better than any scenario that includes getting Schroder imo.

Yuck.

Meh are TPEs really that valuable? They can use it to trade for an overpaid player another team can’t trade for any value so just wants to dump their salary. It’s better than nothing but hardly some game changer for the Cs.

Who’s a realistic target to get using that TPE? The Cavs won’t dump K Love for example. They could at least get something for him.

Sounds like it’s $28.5 mil and they can only use $22 mil at the moment due to the hard cap.

Glenn Robinson III for the MINIMUM to the Kings. Would’ve loved him off our bench here

Same. Wouldve been a nice, versatile bench wing. Id probably prefer him to Pat, Craig, and Forbes.

GR3 definitely worth more than the minimum.. would have been stoked if we picked him up.

Craig and Forbes have an elite/near elite level NBA skill. GR3 is just a guy.
