Yeah, people tend to forget with swaps that you're like, still getting a 1st round pick. By 2030 we could absolutely suck, but so could Portland, so in theory you could still be getting a lottery pick there.

It's monopoly money. Horst is a magician.

I had to take a work call first thing this morning, then help my kids get ready for school. I wasn’t thinking at all about the trade until I just opened my browser and this thread was up. Like a second Christmas!

It amazes me how not-salty Blazers fans have been, all congratulations and best wishes. Maybe it’s a combo of loving Dame and screwing Miami?

I can't even comprehend how this guy is going to be in a bucks jersey.

Those moments still give me goosebumps…

You guys got a real one. Dame is a warrior and leader, both on and off the court. Fans and teammates will love him, especially when they watch him catch fire.

Dame reminds me of Reggie Miller when it comes to the playoffs. And not just in the clutch shooting department either. He’s a guy that ups his game and annihilates defenses as they literally chase him around the court with every perimeter defender they have. What he did to Westbrook and PG in the OKC series was nothing short of disrespectful lol. I can only imagine how much that can benefit Giannis too.

Congrats on your trade and good luck to you guys! What a great team and fan base for Lillard to end up at. I’ll be rooting for the Bucks to win it all while my Blazers go through their rebuild.

I think I speak for every Bucks fan when I say I hope the trail blazers get a haul for Jrue that helps set them up for the future.
still learning the game

Look at all these losers start the moving of goalposts early this morning. Now Holiday is somehow going to be a bigger impact for someone out there...

When was the last time a Wisconsin team had two clear superstars at the same time?

These guys are shameless. When you're on the Bucks you're irrelevant and Giannis should leave but as soon as they get traded Zach Lowe is talking about how much of a "good trade chip" Grayson Allen is and how much we'll miss him and now the media push for Jrue because he is who's available to the big markets now and not Dame.

That's nothing against Jrue who will absolutely make a difference where ever he goes, they just have to go out of their way to try and slight the Bucks in the process.

This is so offensive. How do you prepare for a segment and come out of it with this Shamsian phrasing? Are these guys all doing the same bath salts? And then your social media team is like, "Yep, that's the pull."

It would be 'funny' after all this if the Heat gets Jrue for the 'Dame package'. Which they should definitely try to do.

Still in shock. Finally have a PG who can shoot consistently off-screens and 3PT threat. First time I see it...I might cry. God bless Giannis, if he never came there would be no chip and no Dame. God damn

i would really temper your expectations for that kid. 2nd round pick who can't shoot and isn't a big. it's just very long odds.

More shooters around him minimizes his weaknesses. I don't know how much we'll see him, but I do think it's an ideal environment for him to develop offensively while still contributing. Kid can pass, kid can defend, the uncles can direct the orb rimward.

Windhorst isn't necessarily wrong. If Portland deals Jrue for Brogdon and two #1's, we will have some issues with that team.

We need Jrue to stay in Portland. Since the trade is official, do they have to wait now to re-route him somewhere?

3 way with both of those teams sending picks to Portland makes a lot of sense.

And not only does this trade make the swaps we just moved less valuable, it also makes the upcoming swaps from the original Jrue trade a lot less valuable

Setting aside Giannis, has Dame played with anyone as good as Khris in the past decade? Or Brook, for that matter?

Never understood this line of thinking. The picks are long gone whether it is 20 and 30. It's like finding out the ex that dumped you gained 15 pounds. It may make you feel better, but it doesn't really impact you in any positive way.

Because we're talking future swaps not future picks, though, they're not a true sunk cost from the Bucks perspective. Take the 2026 swap rights with NOP as an example. We will have a 2026 1st round pick, but we don't know whose (ours or NOP's) yet. The best case scenario for the bucks is that it's their own pick, and the swap obligations are exhausted with the bucks giving up literally nothing of value. In all other scenarios our pick is something lower than the bucks draft position. Because this trade increased our chances of still being good in 25-26, it makes the bucks best draft day scenario more likely and all other scenarios less likely.

But from a pick value perspective, that is the worst case scenario going forward. It's like you selling a gold bar, and then after hoping the price of gold drops solely to feel better about yourself.
Pre-Trade (say we end of sucking):
Bucks Were Originally 10th slot.
Pelicans Were Originally 20th Slot
We are picking 20th
Post-Trade (Say we dominate):
Bucks Were Originally 25th slot.
Pelicans Were Originally 20th Slot
We are picking 25th
Post-Trade (Say we suck):
Bucks Were Originally 10th slot.
Pelicans Were Originally 20th Slot
We are picking 10th
SOLELY FROM A PICK PERSPECTIVE - we are in a WORST position post-trade since we are less likely to have a better pick (Granted you take that trade-off since we are more likely to be good). It just makes us feel better when we don't give up a lottery pick, but it is already gone and this trade has zero impact on that.

And when the Jrue deal gets done, they'll need to be hyping the next move so viewers keep tuning in. That's how the **** sports media works now. I can't believe anyone watches these clowns.
