Big 1070: Woelfel talking Brandon Jennings trade
Via RealGM, Woelfel was on Big 1070's Mike Heller Show on Friday with some interesting speculation about the possibility of a Lakers/Bucks blockbuster that would feature Jennings and others in exchange for Pau Gasol. The Lakers obviously want to upgrade their point guard position, but is there really a chance something this big could go down?

As much as he was dogged for his postseason problems, Gasol is still rather terrific and a better player than Brandon, but he's almost 31 and a key asset that the Lakers would rather use to pry Dwight Howard out of Orlando's hands. Besides, the Bucks would have to ship a ton of deadweight salary out to absorb Gasol's big contract, which seems like a tall order. So I doubt there's much to this one, though it's not insignificant that Woelfel continues to talk about the Bucks potentially trading Jennings. John Hammond didn't take too kindly to the last time a rumor about Jennings' availability made the rounds, but then again why would he?

What was Pau traded for when he was four years younger?

That trade was an anomaly.

I think that Gasol trade would easily make us a 50 win team.

Works we get rid of Corey keep 10
Lakers get a PG and if we need a PG through Fisher into the deal

I love to see it happens but in Milwaukee "Magic Does Not Happen"

I revise my original statement. If they could trade Jennings, Maggette and filler for Gasol and then keep 10 and draft Burks, count me as in. With that, all you would need is a competent PG to bring the ball up and pass it down low and let them work inside out. That would play into the other players strengths like Delfino and Salmons, allowing them to just spot and shoot.

He'd be a ridiculously good compliment to Bogut. We'd have rebounding, scoring, defense and ball movement all in the form of two 7-footers.

My only concern would be that Hammond would call it a day after that trade and not try to assemble a couple other "win now" vets that would compliment those two.

If by some miracle we pulled off Maggette / Ersan / Jennings for Pau... I wonder if there is any way we could pry Felton away from Denver? Pipedream trades are becoming contagious around here, but Sanders / Delfino / Dooling / #10 for Felton came to mind as a post-LA trade.

Felton / Salmons / LRMAM / Gasol / Bogut

I need to put away the rum.

/takes a few shots of RiotPunch's rum

I still think Jennings to Orlando makes the most sense. We can offload a bad contract or two with Jennings and it doesn't matter, as they're already in cap hell and need something to get Howard to stay. Jennings' ceiling, while not likely to be reached, is a gamble worth taking and not an expensive one at that, as they have very few moves they can make and none without the upside Jennings offers.

Jennings
Salmons
Gooden

Nelson
Redick
Anderson
2012 No 1

That works under the cap. If need be, give out Ersan and take back either Duhon or Richardson's awful but cheap contract.

I'd then want to full rebuild, flip Nelson and Redick for an expiring-or-shorter and another 2012 1st and then trade Bogut

Yes. And that's why this rumor has no chance to happen. Even if we add Maggette we still have to add more contracts. It is not going to hapen.

But Lakers may still be good trade partner for us because they are one team where Jennings could explode. He is so "showtime" already. It makes so much sense that Lakers would give him a chance and they need PG.

So insteed of Gasol maybe we could trade Jennings for Odom. Odom is few months older than Gasol but has a much better contract. You can even argue that he is underpaid right now. He has 2 years remaining with final year only few millions guaranteed.

I would trade Jennings, Ersan and Dooling for Odom.
Then we trade Maggette for Baron Davis.
Then we trade Gooden for Childress.
Draft PG (Jimmer?)
Re-sign Moute

PG: Davis/#10
SG: Salmons/Delfino
SF: Delfino/Childress
PF: Odom/Moute
C: Bogut/Sanders/Brockman

Hopefully our #40 makes roster as well. And you can always sign minimum salary player like Boykins. Maybe Boykins indeed for one more year as a 3rd PG. I wouldn't complain.

Too much trades? I don't think so. Hammond made 13 trades in his 3 years. It is more than 4 trades per year. Bogut is the only player left from that roster before Hammond. That's why I laugh when you and some others say that he is passive GM who can't close the deal  He closed 13 deals in 3 years for God's sake. He is one of the most active GMs in NBA. He is THE TRADER 8-)

i knew it. You are Bogut fan and not Bucks fan 8-) Because if Hammond collected only trash and only Bogut was here before Hammond and you are here then you eather love trash or you are here because of Bogut only. It's not like you are from Milwaukee or Wisconsin or anything. 8-)

Jennings for Odom would be a pointless move.

I wouldn't share that same concern. The Bucks would obviously need a starting PG. They place a heavy responsibility on the position so at the very least there would be one more move made to get a decent veteran starter at that position.

I would consider that for Felton, it isn't a bad proposal. Actually, I think it is a pretty decent offer.

I conjured that up last night whilst very tipsy, but it didn't get totally shot down as I expected it would.

There is no way I'd trade Sanders/Delfino/Dooling/10 for Felton.
