It doesn't save us a lot of money since Walton is due $6.1 million next year and Jackson is due $10 million. I think we can likely trade Jackson to a playoff contender for either an expiring or actual minor asset.

I'd counter with Bogut and Jackson for Bynum although I don't think many here would go for that, nor would the Lakers.

I think it saves about 5-6m which all in all in a mess might not be the worst thing. If you find better take it, but if I'm Milwaukee I deal him this deadline rather than next. This kind of stuff gets ugly.

Throw in one of the firsts and you got a deal. It may save us money but Walton is $12 million in useless money.

We just have to get Jackson to understand he's got to play hard for a couple weeks and then we'll deal him. We did the same thing with RJ at the end of the 2009 season.

Some semi-contender will be interested come the March 15th trade deadline. Heck look at the T-Wolves. They badly need another wing and have to win now since they have no first round pick. Jackson for Martell Webster who is owed $5.2 this year with a team option for $5.7 next year is one of many possibilities here.

We could probably even get that Lakers deal above, with the Lakers putting in their first round pick along with Luke Walton.

7 weeks to the trade deadline. Lots of things still to develop. Another example, let's pretend the Nets somehow get Dwight, Capt. Jack to NJ for Okur's expiring so Dwight has a friend there and signs an extension.

We just need to play Capt. Jack back into shape. He may be too stupid to allow that, I'll grant you. The other disadvantage we have is that Hammond will be the one in charge of trying to find a deal.

The Knicks salary structure prohibits them from being able to do many deals. Melo and Amare make $18mm+ each and Tyson makes $13mm+. $50 million plus for their big three.

The next highest paid Knick?

Renaldo Balkman at $1.6 million.

Just not any mid-range salaries/players you can deal.

I agree with Jax that he is not a thug.

Neither is Porky Pig, Big Bird, Sponge Bob, or Joe Alexander.

Jackson has some incredible physical talents. At 6' 8" he keeps up with players four to five inches shorter. He has a good basketball IQ. He plays with intensity. He is better for the Bucks than was Maggette. More usable talent.

But he is easily distracted. He forgets what he is doing. He seems to make mental errors, especially when frustrated. He thinks he should be paid for what he is, instead of what he does. He seems content to play for money and applause - individual rewards - without true regard for winning - a team reward.

He appears to not fully understand how close he is to being out of the league. Not because he is a bad guy, but because his abilities are eroding. To stick around, he needs to be more valuable as a glue guy. That means smart play, concentration, helping the team, and understanding that the coach needs to make decisions when players perform poorly. Instead, competent veterans like Jackson are often sheltered from accurate assessments of their standing in the league because they get playing time based in large part because of the size of their contract. They lose sight of the reality that NBA veterans are paid a lot of money by virtue of the makeup of the cba. Until they fall off the shelf - ala Iverson, Marbury, Redd, Huston, Francis, Spreewell. There is not much distance between an 8 figure annual salary and the vet minimum.

Shaun Livingston should start for you guys from here on out. him and Jennings is an interesting back court. it's like their both point guards but Livingston has the size and defense to guard 2's. Give livingston extended minutes and he can perform like he did yesterday
