Chauncey Billups just said no to the Cavs. Which tells me he thinks that team is gonna be torn up in a season and he doesn't want to end up like Byron Scott and responsible for a Cavs team full of scrubs.

Yup all signs are pointing to this being the last year of this current cavs team. Thats why I really can't fault Toronto for keeping their group together because if bron goes West the east will be wide open.

Now if only the bucks could make some savvy moves to position themselves for 2018....

Yeah, I was walking my dog yesterday and trying to wrap my head around why Toronto paid such big money for Lowry and Ibalka. And then I had that exact thought, that the Cavs will lose LeBron next summer after what is looking like a year of infighting and grumbling. Ainge has been phenomenal at collecting assets, but misplayed his hand and lost out on PG and Jimmy Butler. Now Horford is a year older, IT a year closer to a huge raise, and Smart and Bradley are just not special values next offseason when they both get raises.

So in that light, I think Toronto made a reasonable decision to keep the band together.

Especially since they were able to get Lowery on a 3 year deal. If they had to go five then that's a much bigger pill to swallow. By getting both him and Ibaka on shorter deals they are basically saying were going to ride this to 2020 and figure it out then. If the alternative is tearing it down now and rebuilding I get why they would extend their current run. Plus with how bad the east is looking it might be legitimately hard to tank; they could have tore it down and accidentally finished 8th.

Barbosa getting waived so the Suns can take on salary attached with young assets. Incoming Henson/1st to Phoenix so we can make room for Rose.

Im not even sure that gets it done. The wolves are offering the okc 1st to move 2 years and 16 mil of cole aldridge so why take the extra year and more money of hensons deal.

I do think they are looking to do a Yankee swap for knight. A our trash for your trash type deal. Asic for knight is possible or henson if the bucks foolishly want to ride the knight train again.

No, it just means Gilbert isn't willing to pay market value for a GM. It's been his M.O. his entire tenure as owner.

You might be right, but I don't think that would have stopped Chauncey from taking the job. He had no experience running a franchise. It makes sense that he'd come at a discount. And for Chauncey, it enables him to run a team that's gonna be a title contender for the next handful of years.

I think the reason he paused on taking the offer is to see if LeBron was committed to the Cavs long term. There was a similar story that Dan Le Batard told once about Pau Gasol and the Heat. Pau was on the verge of signing a discounted contract with Miami during the 2014 offseason, trying to jump on their title bandwagon. He reached out to LeBron to let him know he was coming, but LeBron was pretty distant and wasn't responding to phone calls or texts. It sufficiently spooked out Gasol that withdrew from the Heat and decided to look elsewhere, and lo and behold, LeBron signs with Cleveland.

I think something similar happened here. That, coupled with the stories that LeBron isn't actively recruiting anyone to Cleveland, makes me think he's planning an exit.

Plausible Pritchard gave Dad a call. And Dad sold him on Domantas doing better if he got away from Westbrook.

Damn Durant is taking a massive paycut to play with a bunch of dudes he really enjoys playing with in a city he really enjoys living in.

That's simply not fair.

Durant signs with a massive paycut in a team with already 3 all stars.
Livingston who could easily have a main role in many other teams signs with a paycut to continue being Curry's shadow.
Good role players want to play for them with a Vet's minimum contract.

At the same time if any other team overpay a couple of players and already has 1-2 all star players they are screwd...

It should be up to the FO and owner to sort out how they can sign players and create a team within the rules, not for players to take cuts to save their billionaire owner tax money

Pat McCaw is a Cardinal's fan. I now hope he only become an all star instead of superstar.
