Man, Smart burst back onto the scene last night. He really brings so much to the table - size; speed; strength; hands; defense; an improved jumper - and he came back for all the right reasons. I love his work ethic and his commitment to the team. He comes across so genuine in interviews. I would not be disappointed in the least. This draft is just ridiculous!
2-8 baby. I can not underscore how huge this road trip is. Just huge. Let's start it out right with a 'L' in Philly. Carter-Williams is back. Hawes will pose big problems for our bigs. Let's start it out right.

Actually, come to think of it, AU reminds me a lot of my favorite UNLV teams. Granted, they most definitely don't have a LJ but they've got something in their collective pool of talent that just really really intrigues me.
Yeah I can see the Augmon comparison with him most definitely. Lefty just like Augmon was too obviously. As for why there is no LJ on this Arizona team, that's probably because he is in Lexington, KY, and his name is Julius Randle
Charlotte Hornets Grandmama as well as a Fab 5 era Chris Webber is who Randle reminds me of the most.
I honestly think Randle is way more of a banger and low-post matchup nightmare than LJ ever was. LJ was a beast in the college game, no doubt. But, I honestly remember him more for his ability to use his strength to create separation for his jumper. Am I wrong on this? I just don't remember that fierce demanding of the ball and going beast mode in the post.

Parker shouldn't be lumped in with those guys. He is a 3 and maybe a 2.

All of these Parker coast-to-coasts makes me ask this:
Is Parker actually Barkley, but with less rebounding and more outside shooting?

Seriously. Take Parker off that list. But, I understand your point. It's a Catch-22 in all facets and, obviously, as an Australian you should have a bias toward Exum's potential. I imagine you've seen him play more than most?

I was just mocking an incredibly dumb argument Parker looks great.

You should have used Aaron Gordon or Julius randle then obviously.

A 2 what? As in Shooting Guard? I'm not even sure he's quick enough to keep up with most SFs, much less an average SG.

I must admit I am taking the typical arrogant American approach when it comes to Exum. I've barely seen him play, and I don't trust the highlight reels and the scouting reports compared to my own two eyes that have seen Marcus Smart dominate in the NCAA's and basically look like the next in line to Derrick Rose/Russell Westbrook.
That being said, Exum is still #5 on my big board just based on the little bit I have seen on him. I do like him, just not as much as Parker, Wiggins, Randle or Smart. I'd take Exum over Embiid (though that could change if Embiid keeps beasting) and Aaron Gordon.
Just too many past international horror stories to justify Exum over the Top 4 right now IMO.

I haven't started scouting the draft class yet, I was just going with the current popular guy.

By the time the college season has finished and the draft has rolled around, I wouldn't be surprised if Exum falls out of the top 10. Hell, I kinda hope he does.

You Aussies know it is fate right? Bucks will get the 6th overall pick and Exum will be the selection.

Most talented player would help the most. No offense, but it BPA without question.
No offense taken. I've heard that argument for decades. I've seen Wiggins and Parker. They're all excellent prospects, but I don't see them on the level of Jordan or James . I like Smart over all of them. He can be a dominant pg in the pros. Take the best player available when it's a clear choice.

One Nice thing is that Exum has played very well in the All Star games he was in with Wiggins, etc. Granted, those are little more than glorified pickup games but much better than posting up a chair or whatever like some previous international prospects.
I think he is definitely going Top 5. Heck, 1 anonymous GM a few days ago said he'd take Exum #1

I'd much rather take Wiggins, Parker, Randle, or Embiid and move someone else to get a PG. I still don't know if Smart can play PG at the next level.

Don't get me wrong, if we're sitting at 5th and Smart, Embiid, Gordon, and Harris are all on the board, the only guy I even give consideration to other than Smart is Embiid. I just don't think he's worthy of being put in the same class as Wiggins, Randle, Parker, and Exum. Nor do I think he ever will be.
Exum doesn't belong with those top 3. And watch the OK St./Memphis game and tell me Smart isn't at least side by side with Exum.
Rule #1 of Pooch Grande Draft Scouting: Must. Stop. Overrating. International. Talent.
#Darko #Vesley #Barngani #Exum?
It's cool that you have rules, but I could just as easily say that you need to stop overrating prospects based on a hand full of college games. #Beasley #Turner #Morrison #Flynn....
Lumping in Exum with Darko, Vesley, and Bargnani? Exum is a completely different prospect and it shows how much you're reaching by comparing him to guys that projected as forwards and centers. Besides Parker, Wiggins, Randle, and maybe Embiid, Exum has the most raw potential of the bunch.
I don't think there's a huge drop off from the top tier like some people do, but Smart is being vastly overrated based on a few impressive box scores right now. Before the Memphis game, I didn't see Smart going any higher than 6th or 7th in most mocks, and now he's being touted as a possible #1 pick? Please, give me a full season of production, then we can start comparing him to the elite tier...

I believe each prospect should be evaluated individually, and that Exum shouldn't be lumped in with past prospects just because he's not from the United States. Hell, the majority of prospects some people are comparing Exum to aren't even from the same continent.

I could see something like this happening. Exum is just the type of project talent for the Bucks to never play.
