Interesting. As long as game compatibility remains between the two consoles, I guess I don't care. But it does suck that the original is essentially being replaced, then. One of the two new ones I'm sure will be same dimensions with different specs - I'm guessing the "pro" version. Which means the original will now be outdated.

Sigh. Oh well.

Yeah, I should add that I'm saying that assuming that games will still get made for the OG Switch ala the PS4 and PS4 Pro. I never upgraded my PS4 and don't plan to do so with the Switch.

My next big console purchase will probably be the PS5 when that comes out sometime in the next couple years.

OK. This is probably the topic in the forum that I never thought I would post :D But here comes the confession bear ..
I am 41, last time I was a "gamer" Sierra Games on MS Dos were the bomb, the last game console I had was Dreamcast (the first was Spectrum ZX in case there are other "fossils here") :D

Then because of other hobbies and the fact that as a software developer I was already sitting in front of a PC all the time, I stopped with games (I also met and have been with my lovely wife since we were both 20 at College, so this didn't help either :D)

Fast Forward to today. Last Black Friday in Germany, they had some amazing offers on Xbox One S (160 Euro with 2 controllers, 2 games and 3 months game pass and gold each). So I was already toying around with the idea of getting a console ( you know..."for the kids" :D ) so I bought it and thought for the price, even if I just play the Bucks on NBA 2K until our real games start at 2-3 am it would be worth it.

And then I played Fallout 4 :D Great game, I like the fact that it is a mixture of Shooting, with crafting , exploring, etc. But it seems huge an with the limited playtime I can see it lasting for ever (and now I stay late even on non nba game days :D ).

Though I am not planning in abandoning it soon as it is griping, do you recommend any similar games but maybe not so vast , that you can play a couple of hours at night and progress at slow pace ?

Here's a good list.

Of those, I'd recommend:

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey
The Witcher 3
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Inside
Assassin’s Creed IV
Rayman Legends

The Witcher 3

Rayman Legends

Thanks. I am interested in Odyssey because of the Ancient Greek world it is based on.
Rayman Legends I already have (my kids favorite so far). Rise of the T.Raider is on game pass so that would be easy to check.
The Witcher 3 I heard great things of and is currently on offer for just $9 on Xbox store so I might get it tonight.
Inside also looks good. I like smaller indie games, I downloaded "Ori and the blind forest" with game pass and first impressions are great.
Any experience with Ark Evolution ? i also downloaded it because i am interested in fossil hunting and paleontology in general. but haven't had time to play it yet.

Depending on what the change is, depends on if I’m in. Switch is pretty much the main way I play games these days, and if a pro version hypothetically doubled the battery life I’d be so in on that.

Oh, battery life would sell me too. Screen or resolution would not - just not what the Switch “does” imo. But battery life would be huge. Because it sucks.

If they don't show gameplay tomorrow and/or they don't announce a fall date I'm gonna be despondent at work.

Borderlands 2 came out all the way back in 2012, I too would be shocked if this wasn't releasing soon. It's not like they haven't had adequate time to develop this third installment.

Really enjoying Sekiro even though I'm not the best at it. Definitely taken me longer than it should. I die a ton at the boss and mini-boss fights and they honestly should be a lot easier. It's like I die and die, usually by not thinking and rushing, and once I actually use the dodges, counters and jumps when I should, I get the kill relatively easily. Feels really good when they go down though.

Really disappointed in Ubisoft releasing the Division 2 with such poor optimization.

It’s now widely known that for whatever reason, when using Nvidia cards your CPU usage is at 100% and causes frame rate stutters, drops, texture popping and sound issue. There are a few “potential” work arounds but none have worked for me. The game is still playable, but it’s really annoying. It’s been known since the beta. For a while I thought it was my system, thank god it’s not.

I've been in a bit of a gaming rut lately, just can't get anything to stick. So I picked Dead Cells back up and happy to say I finally "beat it". At least the original final boss/New Game, I know you can do the NG+ thing but I haven't gotten into that yet.

What was your primary gear setup during the run?

I level Brutality and used Twin daggers, Legendary Firebrand, Cluster Grenade, and Wolf Trap.

It's just funny because I don't prefer any of those things, it just worked out that way. I ignore and have literally never used 90% of the weapons in the game, I almost always just use whatever sword+bow+fire grenade+ice grenade. Never tried shields or anything like that. Not sure if I want to try new gear in NG or increase the difficulty and try to beat it again in NG+. I saw that NG+ = only able to refill health flask after every other level and easier enemies are replaced with tougher ones. Eesh.
