Wisconsin needs fanduel or draft kings
Bucks tricked me into being a diehard in 2001, LeBron is the 2nd best player ever, and pizza is awesome.

Not happening.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Going to vegas and spending an afternoon betting on games, or putting in a few future championship bets to fund your celebration dinners are fun. But having immediate access to all the prop bets is really overkill and bad for the enjoyment of the game. I hate watching football with people because they care more about their TE getting a TD than who wins a game. Or does it matter if the Bucks cover as long as they win? I think that level of gambling has a negative impact on me enjoying a game..... And that is before you get into all the lives are ruined due to addiction and the ways the apps prey on them.

Couldn't agree more. I bet small amounts for fun. I want to enjoy the games and not worry about $$$. I

I've worked at a casino and seen the ugly side of gambling. I've never had any desire to bet on sports. The Bucks winning more than 42.5 games is pretty tempting, though.

Bucks win 50+ and he’s 50/50 to win that award.
80-1 is wild.
I’m thinking more about this.
They have us at 12-1 to win our division. That means more wins than the Cavs, so let’s just say they regress and were able to win it with only 52 wins.
To get to 80-1, you’d have to assume that assuming the above scenario plays out, Doc is still only about a 7-1 odds to win COTY.
That line just seems way off. If you’re a Bucks believer, it’s pretty juicy.
It's probably a blind spot for me because I'm more familiar with a certain subset of the awards voters, but the guys that I read and listen to that get to vote on these things are folks that I would say like Doc a lot as a person but would never ever ever vote for him to be COTY. Barring him becoming a completely different coach, I think we could get the 1 seed and a lot of voters still wouldn't seriously consider him. But like I said, it's probably a blindspot for me where I'm not really considering the likes of the Stephen A Smith's and such that would definitely vote for him.

I don't know if this makes me a hypocrite, but I am someone that enjoys being able to place some bets from my phone while also thinking gambling commercials, the obvious partnerships with sports shows, actual telecasts, etc., should all be banned.
Probably even more hypocritical of me, when I'm in states that allow it like Pennsylvania (which, of all the states, I can't believe they're one that actually allows it), I enjoy the occasional hand of blackjack, slots, etc. on my phone, but I think that should all be banned too lol. Those sorts of games in my mind should be left to actual in-person casinos. I can't really explain why I feel that way but I do.
And with all that said, I've already bet on Bucks over 42.5 wins and Giannis MVP.

I'm telling you! The value is outrageous. Why are we so smart and Vegas is so dumb. The circumstances are ridiculously ripe.
If we win 50 games, it's almost a certainty that either Giannis or Doc win.

Be wary of the shifting narratives. The voters could just as easily claim "Depleted East!"emunney wrote:midranger wrote:If you want to place a surrogate bet on the Bucks having a great year, that Doc bet is the best value. Genie is out of the bottle with sports betting. Too much money is being made. I'm sick of all the ads and promos too. You can't avoid it. I'll be heading to Poto in a week or two to make my NFL futures bets. I bet on a couple of teams to make the SB, some team wins O/U and maybe a couple of player props, passing or rushing yards, etc.. Then I generally stop there every Thursday. I bet on the national NFL games (TNF, SNF, MNF, a couple of other Sunday games and 2-3 college games). All low stakes. For basketball and baseball I make a few futures bets but very rarely bet on games or make prop bets. Too many variables.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If one wishes to enter the realm of NBA betting having never done so what is the path of board preference? YouTube Channels that teach and explain are appreciated

Start of the football season i deposit 100$ on Bovada and if it runs out im done for the year.MickeyDavis wrote:Genie is out of the bottle with sports betting. Too much money is being made. Generally only 10$ bets to make sure it last unless I build up the bank roll. Absolutely hate the season long bets
Then of course I end up losing it come playoffs when I keep rolling it over on the Packers or whoever I think is gonna win the SB
But rule of thumb. Dont bet a dollar you dont expect to lose

Pretty much how I do it, too. Tiny little bets for fun. I've thrown in some F1 bets over the last couple years. Makes the races fun to watch.

Re: Giannis Thread - "The Finals are different, I hope to be back soon with the Bucks"
Greece win their first friendly against Belgium 74-60. Giannis did not play but was on the bench.
Looking like it will take a superhuman effort from Giannis for Greece to make a deep run this EuroBasket. They have a couple solid players in Mitoglu/Dorsey. Some vets who can still play but their age is starting to show in Sloukas/Papanikolaou. Larentzakis and Toliopoulos can shoot and have shown up in big moments. But overall the talent and depth on the team is quite poor and they really are lacking in shooters.
Good to see Thanasis playing again. Honestly looks like he's recovered well from the achilles injury. Same player as always, not very skilled, not very good at basketball but he's athletic and plays hard as hell. Kostas Antetokounmpo could make an impact too as the 3rd big (big man depth being something this roster really lacks).
Panagiotis Kalaitzakis (twin brother of Bucks 2021 draft pick Georgios Kalaitzakis) is also on the team.
This isn't a very deep year for EuroBasket teams in general though. Serbia will be an absolute powerhouse and has to be the favorite led by Jokic and a roster filled with quality NBA and Euroleague players. Germany will be a very tough out and have had the Greeks number for years now. France, Turkey, Latvia, and Spain are all talented and could pose a threat. The Greeks have a very real chance to medal although it might rely on them avoiding Serbia and to a lesser extent Germany early in the knockouts.

Yeah, much has also been made about Rogavopoulos and Papagiannis snubbing their invitations due to friction with Spanoulis.
Honestly, I prefer Sloukas and Dorsey flanking Giannis on the perimeter as opposed to Calathes and Walkup, who were poor shooters despite being good defenders.

Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has yet to begin his preparations for the Euro 2020 (August 27-September 14) with Greece. A default on his insurance payments could explain his absence from the field.
The local portal SDNA revealed that the real reason for the absence of the former NBA MVP is not an injury, as stated by the Federation, but an unpaid insurance policy where the Milwaukee Bucks play a significant role.
Sources close to the top of the Greek federation indicate that everything possible is being done, but that the 'ball is in Giannis's club's court.'

Bucks should ban Giannis from competing in the EuroBasket. It's a pointless tournament anyway (as it doesn't act as a qualification for the World Cup or Olympics anymore), and Greece has almost no chance to win it (Serbia is virtually guaranteed to steamroll everyone with their full squad). And Giannis will be turning 31 in a few months. Minimize the risk of injury as much as possible. It just doesn't make any sense to take this risk from the Bucks POV. They were kind enough to let Giannis compete for many years already.

Counterpoint: The Bucks letting Giannis do the things he is passionate about (playing for Greece, having his brother on the team) is a huge component of why he is so loyal to them. I totally agree that him playing in the tourney is dumb from every other perspective.

1. Giannis is a Bucks employee, not Bucks property.
2. The Hellenic Basketball Federation should be paying to insure him, as they are the beneficiaries of Giannis playing the tournament, and the Bucks' liabilities are already literally immeasurable.
