He’s actually like 6’7”, maybe 6’8”. He seems destined to be a journeyman big, Hammond giving him a 4/50 deal is par for the course (Gooden, Henson, Plumlee) and it’s truly incredible to see him pull it off once more.

He measured 6′ 8.75" barefoot at the combine which seems right to me by the eye test. That's the same height Bam measured out at.

That was the year prior to the NBA cracking down on these measurements. They went back and changed Carter’s height to 6’9” now, so his true height barefoot is much closer to 6’7”. Durant measured 6’9” at the combine and that is the biggest lie in the NBA lol. I saw Carter and Bagley at Summer League his rookie year and couldn’t believe how short Carter was. I had John Brockman flashbacks lol.

Who cares. He's long, because of his wingspan, and productive. The only thing that will hold him back is they have another good center in Bamba. Carter is young and will continue to improve. Good player, and when the cap takes another massive jump in a few years his deal will be a bargain.

I don’t think Exum has a place in the NBA sadly. His body doesn’t seem to be up to it and I’m not sure what NBA skill he has. Good and smart defender but not sure it’s worth a roster spot for that.

Anyhoo, hope someone picks him up.
Dante's time is probz over in the NBA. Could thrive in the Euro league or NBL

Dont forget Greg Monroe
And if Hammy was still around we'd probably still trying to get out from under Jabari's max

But we beat out the illustrious mid 2010's Knicks!

Marquese Chriss just too dumb to grasp nba basketball?

I understand he sucks overall, but seems like a decent rebounder, gets a block per game, and can dunk a lob. Seems like a decent option for emergency big on our team. Better than Diakite anyway.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

He had some maturity/attitude issues earlier but if he's figured that out he absolutely has NBA tool set. He's a fouling machine but should never play so much that would really matter.

I think he might be done and it’s sad honestly. I know half of it’s his fault for not caring much about defense but if he didn’t tear his knee twice I feel he would still have a sane Michael Beasley role off the bench for somebody.

Not sure Jabari is more sane than Beasley.

Jabari has made $55 mill in his NBA career. He's gonna be OK.

Would appreciate more inside info on the Jabari vs Embiid decision.

Were our brand new owners too vested in immediate impact to even seriously consider it? I remember reports that they were very involved in the decision.

Do we think anyone in the franchise was pushing for Joel?

I think the Jabari pick in retrospect was fine. Him and Wiggins were the consensus top 2 'safe' picks. Embiid had the highest upside of all three but his health issues were a huge risk. Given how good Jabari and Wiggins were projected to be, taking Embiid might've been like taking Oden over Durant.

I'm sure they had the discussion about Embiid but went for what they saw as the sure thing in Jabarles. Would've been interesting to see what Jabari would've turned into if he stayed healthy. Melo-lite was always the comparison and I think it's pretty apt.

I don't even remember anyone on the board seriously pushing for Embiid. Injury history in a body that big had red flags everywhere. Mostly I recall Wiggins was definitely going #1 and we were mostly trying to convince ourselves we fell into the better player anyway.

There were definitely a few Embiid boosters around here. Really the “process” Sixers were the safest bet to take a guy that needed years to get his health straight though.

I think there is a structural problem in US basketball.
You look at top prospects of the past coming out of the system, from MJ to Lebron/KD/Shaq/Kobe/KG etc, they all had a different approach towards defense. But none of them, not a single one, would allow themselves to be horrible on D when it mattered. They all had great D in their pocket and brought it as often as they wanted. Which was A LOT.

How is it that what came after them, the Zion/Jabari/Wiggins/KAT/Trae etc of this world are so clueless on D?
It really feels like sometime in early 2000 the youth coaches collectively said don't worry about that, just focus on making buckets. And you know what? they were right, each and every one of those guys either got paid or is in the process of getting paid. And nobody really thinks there is a problem with prospects coming out of the US system, it's all BAU. I do, but who cares.

Didn't embiid refuse to give a bunch of teams his medical info including us?
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Yeah, I remember the leadup to that draft very well. Wiggins and Parker were the surefire superstar prospects early in the year... Embiid rose to most people's #1 as the season went on, but hurt his back. Then he had the fractured foot before the draft workouts...

Some still wanted to take the risk, but we had just dealt with Bogut's injuries and had seen injuries impact Oden, Bynum, etc...most didn't want to go through that again, especially with 1 of the 2 big name stars in Wiggins or Parker guaranteed to be available.

Then there was the Exum camp, who almost converted me... :D
