Bad game for Giannis so far, feels like he cannot find his rhythm in the game.

AT least we woke up a bit after the 0-7 start on the 4th !
Now if you could stay at the 10-15 pts difference, that would be great (... for my prediction game on another board :D )

I've never seen Bargnani play as hard as he is for Italy.

Fotis St wrote:Coach Katsikaris is the one who can't read the game... Giannis is a full time worldwide mismatch in the iso-post as a SF cause of his lenght and speed .... Coach Kidd uses Giannis extremely well with iso plays in the post and on top of the key to use his speed+length...
Katsikaris uses Giannis as a typical rotation player... Katsikaris plays the NT with only one set play ... pick n roll PG/C ... Spanoulis/Koufos ... that is not gonna help Greece to win a championship... Good defensive teams will read it and stop it ...
So it is crucial to use Giannis like he plays in NBA with isos !!!

I know that Bucks fans want Antetokounmpo to do well. But you need to relax a little bit. There has not been a national team in the world that has stopped Spanoulis in pick and roll or screen and roll, and that includes Team USA, Spain, France, Lithuania, all of them.

Of course the coach of Greece is going to use his by far best offense. Just relax. I've watched Greece's games, and Antetokounmpo is actually getting a lot of open dunks from Spanoulis on back door cuts and Spanoulis is also creating a lot of open 3 point shots for him too. Zisis moves the ball around a lot also and the team plays natural flex offense with him in there.

I think more of an issue for Antetokounmpo is that Calathes and Sloukas are clear shoot first type guards and Calathes can't control tempo or game rhythm. So Antetokounmpo simply does not get those open looks, dunks, 3 point shots when they are in the game, and Calathes under the coach's system is the one that has the ball most of the time. So it's really more about Calathes' lack of court vision, lack of basketball IQ, and passing skills. Sloukas just looks for his shot more. None of this is not looking to pass the ball to Antetokounmpo. It's just the specific types of players and skills of what they are, or how they coach assigned their roles even.

When Spanoulis has the ball by comparison, he finds Antetokounmpo for open shots all over the place. It's just that Antetokounmpo is missing the 3s and then the open dunks are being limited, because the coach has Calathes doing most of the play making, and has Spanoulis doing most of the off ball play. Which makes sense though to have Spanoulis off the ball, since he is a much better shooter and scorer than Calathes.

Basically, if Antetokounmpo played in a lineup with Zisis and Spanoulis he could fair better on offense, but the coach of Greece clearly is saving that lineup only for certain situations, because he prefers to use Calathes for defensive reasons, since he is a plus defender, even though Zisis is a much better player on offense.

Spanoulis is the worst play in NBA history, nobody cares about your obsession with him.

The only one im surprised to not see yesterday was mantzaris.
While i would not put the kid for the offense and his passing skill i would definitely put him for defense.
Yesterday we were playing 3 guards against slovenia but we didnt put Mantzaris on blazic, not sure why Spanoulis was guarding him but he would stop many of his 3 point attempts thats for sure.
As Calathes, he is a mix of both tbh, his problem is that he cannot play PNR like Zisis and Spanoulis can but you can always trust him with the ball and he is a good passer tbh.
Sloukas reminds me of a Spanoulis playing at 2, extremely quick with his feet but sometimes does crazy **** that Spanoulis didnt do, he will improve in due time.

It's pretty clear that Giannis has been getting increasingly frustrated by the lack of plays that are called for him, the number of times he's receiving the ball at <8 seconds in the perimeter and the amounts of cuts he performs that are ignored. That second first period foul yesterday was obviously intentional; he wanted out of the game.

Oh well, that's good news given that he'll stay away from the next NT event!~

I don't think he will simply give up playing for NT. I believe his personal loyalty and pride in being Greek will always have him going back to play for them at least in the foreseeable future.

The question is: who do they hate more? The Macedonians or Dijsselbloem?
