Yall weird Boogie looked fine on defense against one of the most athletics teams in the league. He's not a good defensive player but with Giannis he doesn't need to be.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Boogie just needs to work with Brook about proper positioning as well as playing alongside the others. He'll be okay. He's still a very good talent on offense.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

Could you imagine if we got Patty Mills instead of Hill and RHJ instead of Semi?

Before 3 career redefining injuries. Even then he was a monster... who could neither shoot nor defend the basket who shot substantially below league avg TS% over the course of his career.giannis and 1 wrote:HurricaneKid wrote:The ambition here for Boogs is wild. He hasn't been a decent player since the achilles 3 years ago. Never mind the hammy tear. Or the ACL.
At his best he was in inefficient scorer on a losing team while a plodding defensive liability. All while playing a role quickly being chaperoned out of the league.
During that time he has shot a Giannis-esque 32.8 from 3.
I'd gladly take a guy that can give Giannis 10 min rest against the big bangers once a week.

I think you're underrating how good he was in like last 2 years on the Kings and his year on NOP before he got injured.
I'm really not trying to litigate his impact before the injuries but to point out that since he had the 1st of 3 major injuries he has never been able to be impactful. THEN he had the torn hamstring. Then he had the ACL.
I was impressed at how he managed to improve his body since the last time we saw him on the floor. But if he is seeing playoff min against the Nets OR the Finals it's a bad omen. He isn't close to seeing minutes over BroLo, Giannis, or Bobby.

We've played Brook at the 5 for the last three seasons. We'll switch our actions on the perimeter, Cousins will drop, and he'll be 6'10 with a 7'6 wingspan and his hands in the air.
Brook moves slow but covers significantly more ground than boogie, it’s not even close. Brook plays like he’s stuck in mud, boogie is stuck in dry cement.
He’s impossible to hide on defense and he plays the most important position on defense, he was outta the league for a reason. He’ll be ok for 5 minute stretches but that’s the type of guy you give a non-guaranteed contract and cut instead of sacrificing a roster spot on.
First 15 minutes were good enough (3x 5 minutes). Exactly what we needed. Don’t you want this? What do you (and ShootingtheJ) have against him?

Nope. This comes down to knowing how to play the game. Boogie has ALWAYS had a high BBIQ. Whether he put that into action with consistency on both ends is a different story. He's now at the point where he's well aware his career is on the line. This is the last breath. He went into a Clippers situation which had a lot of flux. There was limited time. We have 3/4ths of a season here. He is humbled. He is skilled. And he will turn everyone's head here as it pertains to being a contributor on this team.
Boogie Cousins he is not, but he remains a skilled big. We're not fitting a square peg into a round hole folks. We're putting a malleable player into our system and making him work with and for us. Mark my words, to an extent, he will resurrect his career with this team. He will have moments where people will ask, how the **** did we miss this? (as they did with Bobby) I think, come seasons end, there will be a decision between he and Bobby. Not because Bobby won't take the Early Bird, but because our owners may prioritize.
Bud can coach. Anyone who says otherwise is a certified moron at this point. He'll put Boogie in a position that works.

We need to make this boogie thing work, lopez is probably done and he is getting older.
Good deal for cousins to start winning and earn another decent contract in his career, if he could earn a 3/30 deal we are set at C for 3 more years, we need to pay Bobby first aswell.
It would be interesting if we could try a lineup with
Jrue
Khris
Portis
Giannis
Cousins

I said I liked the signing in my first post and I’ve loved his game before the injuries and thought he was on his way to the hof. The bucks need a big body and he was the best of the big guys available. He looked good today and played the role they brought him in for and then some.
My main point is that even though people are giving some of brooks minutes to him, and figuring out how to get him the ball in his spots, he’s most likely not going to be on the team for very long simply because of the type of contract he signed, and the roster situation. The bucks are going to use him to keep Giannis from banging because he’s been complaining about it for a couple weeks and when the deadline gets near they’re most likely going to cut him.
Now they could do something with the Hood, Semi, Georgios contracts and or do some trades and open a spot for cousins while keeping an open spot for buyouts. But with his impact on his last few teams, and his athletic limitations on the defensive end, I would bet they use him for stretches and move on when the time comes.
Anything could happen though, just think people are jumping the gun and getting a little excited over the name instead of the actual player. It’s a reason he was at home and as we’ve seen over the last few years, the bucks have very little patience for fringe/ non nba players not named Thanasis.

I would buy into this if he was on a minimum, prove it deal like hood or semi but he’s basically on a bandaid contract right now. I’m sure this is more of “help us out til we get healthy while you audition for a guaranteed contract elsewhere” type thing instead of trying to stick for the bucks.
Like I said in the post above, they could drop some of the dead weight at the end of the bench to make room for Boogie and keep a spot open. Don’t even know how that would affect the tax bill or whatever. Just don’t think the front office would do all that for a 3rd big who won’t play in the playoffs.
I just feel he’s a plug in guy til they figure some stuff out and that’s all.

Boogie is going to turn his career around with Suki, Giannis and Bud. This was the steal of the season by Horst.

If Boogie does good enough we could utilize Brook as a filler in a trade. Not saying I want to trade Brook, but just having the option without absolutely gutting the roster is nice. Not that I think that there's a Brook for a non-big trade out there that makes us better.

We could still get RHJ instead of Semi, but Jemerrio Jones is a better player.

I would say stabilize his career more than turn around, but same sentiment. He has the potential to have a Vince Carter-esque role player renaissance where he becomes a valuable part time player for most of a decade, like an overskilled Zaza.

It'll be huge if Boogie gives us a good 15 a night. He moved well last night, which gives me some hope he can survive his stints as a drop 5 on defense. Also, y'all are slandering Brook's mobility. He's slow and looks goofy out there, but his body control is excellent and he knows how to use his length to impact a wider radius than his footspeed would imply.

I think he plays himself out of our monetary range for this coming offseason.
How does this work? I assume there are no bird rights associated with a NG contract.

With Boogie coming in, it seems that we don't need a Center anymore (at least for now). Still think DDV might have become expendable after the emergence of Allen. What's the best 3+D (s)wing we can get for DDV + filler(s)?
Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to keep him as insurance at the PG/SG positions in case Jrue/Hill/Allen/Pat miss games.
