I know we make fun of his FedEx background and everything, but the dude must have worked his ass off to go from that to being the GM of one of the few true title contenders in the NBA. It's insanely impressive regardless of the mess that our GM search turned into.
I agree, I make fun of Horst a lot, but guy has done some good things for sure. Can't take that away from him.

I had to look up who he was. The Ringer NBA show is in my list of pods and I listen maybe once a month or whatever. But I've been lapping up all the NBA stuff today and his stuff was the most infuriating.

It literally started with the intro, as one of his guests (either Rob Mahoney or Michael Pena) mentioned how it was a good day for small market teams and Verier **** all over that. Then spent the next hour **** on this and Giannis and the Bucks and how it actually is a bad thing for the NBA.

Whats funny is you could find 25 better basketball analysts than this Verier cat on this very forum.

There are many issues that need to be fixed right away.
This reminds me of something from last season before the shutdown. I posted some advanced stats, I think it was like 3 players wide open percentages from 3 under different conditions like home and away or in wins or losses. Low and behold later that night Jim and Marques are point blankly repeating the **** I wrote. "Thanks to our stat guys" my ass.ElPeregrino wrote:Bucksfan28 wrote:ReasonablySober wrote:

Boston reportedly offered Hayward plus their 3 1st rounders this year (ended up being Nesmith, Bane, Pritchard).
I don't think we overpaid (Giannis is signed long term) and we don't know what other teams offered.
yeah i read that too. considering what charlotte paid him im assuming they could have ended up getting 5 picks one way or the other with boston too
Charlotte is not a great indication of anything. MJ once took Miles Plumlee of the Bucks' payroll for basically expiring contracts if I remember correctly.

humanrefutation wrote:I think it's reasonable to consider whether the Bucks could have made a better move than the Holiday one. For example, they could have almost certainly kept Hill and made a S&T move for Bogdan that wouldn't have costed as much, or they could have saved their assets and waited to pounce on a Harden or a Beal.
It was clearly an overpay for Holiday, and my guess is that they made that deal thinking they were going to get Bogdan, too; I'm not sure if they would have agreed to give up all of that for Holiday if they knew the Bogdan deal wasn't done - the either/or scenario would have been interesting for them to consider. If they made the move for Bogdan and passed on Holiday, would that have been enough for Giannis to re-sign?
