Pat is a sneaky trade candidate if we don't plan on opening the checkbook for him. He's such a huge culture guy that I would be surprised to see Horst take that risk, but shrewd moves like this (removing emotion from the equation to achieve balance) separate the good from the great GM's.

The killer GM moves Middleton.Big Gamble. Big payoff possible.

Regarding Pat, no question he's going to get a big offer in the summer. Problem is I can't see teams giving up assets for him unless they make a FA deal.

And of course both of those guys are purportedly no-trade guys for Giannis.

Yeah, moving Khris on a repeat tour is too coldblooded for Horsty boy. That's Dahmer level killer.

I could see Portland valuing Pat given his relationship with Dame. But yeah, most teams will just wait to offer him the full MLE.

Super interesting, but Nance is out with a knee injury, with no timetable to return. That pretty much kills this deal.

A team could trade for him so they wouldn't have to use their MLE.

That's true. Not sure how valuable that would be, but Horst should find out.

I'm sold on Pat as a culture fit and as someone you'd want taking an important three but man his defence just does not exist this season. He's too small for any 4's and too slow on the perimeter. Plus he's the main culprit to not having a clue where he is defensively at times.

Donte tanking his way to nothing more than salary filler. Bummer. We need to save Giannis from the center position

Feels like we might have hit our ceiling with Middleton last season. Middleton's trade value will probably never be any higher than it is right now. If I was GM I wouldn't necessarily be in a rush to get rid of him, but I would be checking around lol.

You could get a good return for Middleton, plus I have been saying for awhile that Grayson should be a bigger part of our offense. I would have no problem with Grayson getting some of Middleton's shots whether we trade Middleton or not.

If you trade midds, is it more important to win this year or a move to extend the window?

More towards the latter, but both. It's all about Giannis's window.

Still think we're only a 4/5 or 4/3 or maaayybe even a 5 away from being clear favourites as things stand. Not even anyone amazing, just a legit 20 minutes a game rotation guy.

Alternatively, hearing that Lopez has taken on some kind of awesome core fitness program and lost 20 pounds and will be back soon would make me happy enough to stand pat and see who we can sign back after the playoffs.

I've given up on Brooke
The only reason he was so useful last year is because somehow he showed up in the best shape of his life and was able to do things like that:
https://youtu.be/O6R9A6EvHg0

If he's any slower than this he just won't do. And to be able to get to that shape by June after back surgery... forget it. 33 year old 7 footers don't bounce back like that.

Oh I've almost completely given up given age, size and injury. I remembered him after writing my post. I'm a founding member of the Brook lives on the edge of the playable athleticism cliff club. We're in late Carlos Delfino territory probably.

Our starters have played almost 169 minutes together. That's 3.3 minute a game so far.

Let's say we trade for Bamba. Do you guys think he'd be starting over Bobby this season or would he be coming off the bench?
